It doesn’t do much good, Jesus

to hear the great, life-changing truths of Your Word

then fail to remember them

not build every aspect of my life upon them.

You’ve told me to see to it that I don’t let that happen.

That means I’m the one responsible.

If I don’t do it
I have no one to blame but myself.

Your Word is that foundation, Jesus

not because it’s in writing
not because it’s the Bible
but because it’s You.

You Are The Word.

That’s
Solid.

But what means the world to me is knowing I belong to You!

You know me.
You chose me.
You saved me.
I’m Yours.

Not merely for my time on this earth
but through all eternity!

You’re right:

That seals it!

That’s like saying You don’t care, Jesus!

…that Your Word doesn’t matter
that we can live any old way we like

while You shrug with a half-smile on Your face
and say, “Oh, well, that’s cool.”

But it isn’t.

For those who deliberately flaunt Your loving laws

one day they will discover to their horror:

it’s very, very hot.

There’s a simple reason for this, isn’t there, Jesus?

Those to whom You give the holy honor of teaching Your Word

owe You and those they teach

the privilege of seeing someone
who practices what they teach.

True, no teacher will ever do everything perfectly

but that had blessed well be their daily goal.
