Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…when the report…was found to be true…”
(Esther 2:23)

First I have to check it out, don’t I, Jesus?

If I don’t personally know and trust the source
I can’t take for granted that everything I hear is true.

But what if I investigate it and find out this juicy tidbit is a fact?

What then?

Do I just mindlessly go about blathering it all over creation?

I can’t do that either, can I?

Some things shouldn’t be repeated.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…when the report was investigated…”
(Esther 2:23)

How many times have I heard and repeated a story

without first investigating it, Jesus?

Worse yet –

how many times have I acted on that uninvestigated story?

Why would I do that?

Was it because I wanted it to be true?
Or maybe checking out the story seemed too complicated.

But if the story was about me…

wouldn’t I want the person who heard it to first check it out

before passing it on?

Pray this Lazaroo with a determination to follow:

“Queen Esther…reported it to the king…”
(Esther 2:22)

What do I do when I hear something of huge importance, Jesus?

Do I keep it to myself?

In the case of gossip or sworn secrecy
sometimes I should.

But what about those times when the nature of what I’ve learned must not remain a secret –

at least not to the people who need to know it?

Oh, how I need Your guidance!
Lead me, LORD!

I know You will.

Pray this Lazaroo in chastened faith:

“They are gossips…”
(Romans 1:29)

I really need Your help with this one, Jesus!

I have a feel for when something is newsworthy.

There’s a tendency in me

to want to blurt out what I know.

But I can’t, can I? I don’t have Your permission!

The only time for me to pass it on
is when it’s truly helpful – not when it’s merely juicy –

lest I sow a poisonous seed
I most assuredly do not want to reap!

Pray this Lazaroo with the humility that comes from honesty:

“…there will be false teachers among you.”
(2 Peter 2:1)

Why, Jesus?

Why would You allow false teachers in Your Church?

I suppose that’s the same question as

why would You allow liars, addicts, adulterers, gluttons, gossips?

It’s who we are, isn’t it?

Thank God, not who You’re helping us become!

But we haven’t arrived.

Every single one of us has such a long way to go.

Since You’re lovingly correcting me…

I guess I can lovingly correct them.
