Get your, “Yes Sir!” ready, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘These people say, “The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord’s house.”’ Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai…”
(Haggai 1:2-3)

You hear our complaints, Jesus.

They grate on Your ears.

When we insist we don’t have time

to take care of the things that matter to You

we’re about to learn the hard way:

We should have kept our mouths shut.

You’ll appoint someone
to deliver the news.

Pray this Lazaroo in abject humility:

“A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet…‘Lord, I have heard of your fame…’”
(Habakkuk 3:1-2)

Habakkuk isn’t the only one, Jesus.

So have I.

I’ve read the Bible. Marveled at Your miracles.

You’re All-Powerful.
There’s nothing You can’t do.

But I’ve also discovered the hard way:

I can’t make You grant me a miracle

just because I desperately want it

just because I believe

I absolutely have to have it.

That You know better than I do

is also part of Your fame.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Caravans turn aside from their routes; they go off into the wasteland and perish. The caravans of Tema look for water, the traveling merchants of Sheba look in hope. They are distressed, because they had been confident; they arrive there, only to be disappointed. Now you too have proved to be of no help…”
(Job 6:18-21)

That’s one of the toughest things You put me through, Jesus…

to let me find out the hard way
that the only one I can truly trust –

including myself –

is You.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of Daughter Zion. The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel.”
(Lamentations 2:4-5)

You’re nothing to mess with, Jesus!

Sadly, Your people learned that the hard way
when they repeatedly ignored You
and profaned Your Holy Name.

I prefer to learn that horrible lesson

vicariously.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“…the older women…can train the younger women…to be kind…”
(Titus 2:3-5)

Why would older women know more than younger women, Jesus

about being kind?

Perhaps the experience of their years has taught them its benefits.

Perhaps they’ve learned the hard way what happens

when they aren’t kind

and when others are unkind to them.

But of all instructional methods

perhaps the best way to train these younger women to be kind

is to show them how it’s done. 😉

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb…”
(1 Chronicles 6:56)

Some of us get the big cities, Jesus

others the fields and smaller towns.

You place each of us where – if we trust You with our whole hearts –

we can thrive.

Interestingly, one may be best for a season

and the other best in the next season of life.

I may have to learn these truths the hard way

but it’s worth the cost.
