“We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. As has just been said: ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.’”
(Hebrews 3:14-15)

I’m holding firmly to my original conviction about You, Jesus

because You’re holding firmly to me.

I do not share in You because I’m holding on.

I hold on because – by grace alone –

You’ve chosen me.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“…I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
(Hebrews 3:10-11)

You spell out pretty clearly what causes You to become angry with a generation of people, Jesus:

hearts that go astray
refusal to know Your ways.

O God!

Help me truly know You and Your ways!
Rise up within me so strongly –

that I never stray!

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“So, as the Holy Spirit says: ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts…’”
(Hebrews 3:7-8)

That’s a big “if,” Jesus.

Most people haven’t heard Your voice.

Except…if I’ve read the Bible

or heard a preacher or teacher proclaiming Your Word

I guess I have heard from You.

So I’m not off the hook, am I?

Looks like I’d better not harden my heart. Smile

O God!

Help me make my heart totally responsive to You!

Pray this Lazaroo in Bible-led caution:

“They have become filled with every kind of…depravity.”
(Romans 1:29)

What a heartbreak, Jesus!

And what a danger.

Those who are giving themselves wholeheartedly to You can scarcely imagine the evil that lurks in the hearts of some.

They innocently think of them as good people who’ve made mistakes.

But it’s worse than that.

The infection coursing through their veins is lethal.

Even so, we cannot give up on them.

How can we?
You never gave up on us.
