Pray this Lazaroo in humble circumspection:

“Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.”
(1 Timothy 3:1)

It’s natural, Jesus –

to look at what one of Your leaders is doing and think:

“I’d like to do that!”

It’s a noble thing to want to serve You.

They are to be commended, encouraged, helped,
guided, taught, prayed over.

But O God!

May only those You’ve truly called pursue that course

because in truth

they know not what they ask.

Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“That man is our close relative; he is one of our guardian-redeemers.”
(Ruth 2:20)

What an awesome gift You gave Your people, Jesus –

a guardian-redeemer

a close relative they could turn to for help –
someone willing and able to do extraordinary things
to rescue them from impossible circumstances.

You’re my guardian-redeemer!

With Your own life on the cross
You bought me back from the clutches of Satan.

I’m Yours for life!

There’s no one else
whose I’d rather be.

Follow Jesus’ example as you pray this Lazaroo:

“What Jesus did in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory…After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days. When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.”
(John 2:11-13)

You went from working a miracle…

to loving Your family…

to preparing for Your next mission, Jesus.

I’d love to follow in Your footsteps…

but I might need a litle help with the miracles! 😉

Pray this Lazaroo with a corrected attitude:

“…receiving no help…”
(3 John 1:7)

When I ask for help and no one responds

it makes me feel lonely, abandoned, even unloved, Jesus!

But should I have that response?

It’s not like I’ve helped everyone
who would have appreciated my help.

So what’s my problem?

It’s a learning opportunity, isn’t it?

Maybe the time wasn’t right.
Maybe I didn’t ask the right people.
Maybe I’m supposed to do it myself.

After all, I’m never alone.

I have You.

Ask God for grace, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…so they may become like me.”
(Lamentations 1:21)

Jeremiah wasn’t asking You to make his enemies wealthy, Jesus.

He wasn’t asking You to make them strong.
He wasn’t asking You to make them happy.

Jeremiah was pleading with You to make his enemies miserable!

…because that’s what He was.

I sure understand why he felt that way.

It’s incredibly hard to watch my enemies dance over my misfortune.

But You’ve given me a new command:

Love my enemies.

Pray this Lazaroo in non-arguing obedience:

“Go now to your countrymen in exile…”
(Ezekiel 3:10)

Tough assignment, Jesus!

These people were pretty cranky over being expelled from their homeland.
They were also rebellious against You.

When You place me among bad attitude people

all I want to do is run.

But they need help, encouragement and Your Word too, don’t they?

So I guess the main thing for me to keep in mind

is to embrace my God-given mission

and not become cranky and rebellious. 😉

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Confident of your obedience…”
(Philemon 1:21)

I wish You could be confident of mine, Jesus!

I wish my friends and family could be.
I wish I could be.

But I’m not.

Oh, I’m confident of my good intentions.

You know all about those, too.

I sure do mean well.

But my follow-through needs some work.

I don’t have to tell You that last statement was an understatement.

My follow-through needs a lot of work.

Help me. Please.
Help me.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“Gather together, gather together…”
(Zephaniah 2:10)

When You say it once, I’ve got to pay attention and obey, Jesus.

But when You say it twice?

Whew! I need to get out my highlighter
and bump it up to the top of my agenda.

What are You saying to me through Your prophet Zephaniah?

They quit turning to You for counsel, direction and help, didn’t they? –
turning instead to others they trusted more.

Message received and recorded.
Loud and clear.
