“‘Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,’ declares the Lord.”
(Obadiah 1:4)

You said it, Jesus:

“Pride goes before destruction
a haughty spirit before a fall.”

I can testify!

You’ve had to drop me to my knees.
More than once.

But praise Your Holy Name!

Again and again and again
You’ve lifted me back up!

May I never forget:

The way to stay up
is to stay down.

Father and son working together, Jesus

to honor You.

Although that’s beautiful

it doesn’t always happen.

But You’re my Father

and I’m Your child.

to bring glory to Your holy Name!

“Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of Daughter Zion. The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel.”
(Lamentations 2:4-5)

You’re nothing to mess with, Jesus!

Sadly, Your people learned that the hard way
when they repeatedly ignored You
and profaned Your Holy Name.

I prefer to learn that horrible lesson

vicariously.
