Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

“Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value…”
(2 Timothy 2:14)

Okay, Jesus.

Quarreling about words is one.

How many other things I may be doing…or Satan is tempting me to do…

are of no value?

Please show me!

How dare I squander the moments, hours and days

of this precious life You’ve given me?

May I regard my time on this earth as sacred as You do

and act accordingly.

Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred gratitude:

“…during the time of testing in the wilderness…your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did.”
(Hebrews 3:8-9)

How could they do that, Jesus?

Forty years of seeing Your love, majesty and protection
and still they tested, tried and flat-out disobeyed You countless times!

The same question could be asked of me.

After all You’ve done and continue to do for me
how dare I give You anything less than my absolute best?

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“The wrath of God has come upon them at last.”
(1 Thessalonians 2:16)

I’m not asking You to punish anyone, Jesus!

Not even those who’ve hurt me the most.

The reason is simple:

I’ve sinned against You so many times.
You’ve forgiven and blessed me times beyond counting.

How dare I ask You to treat them worse
than in Your mercy You’ve treated me?

But for those who deliberately flaunt You without sorrow or regret?

Their day is coming.

Prioritize! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The gold nails weighed fifty shekels.”
(2 Chronicles 3:9)

Even the nails of the Most Holy Place in Your temple were gold, Jesus!

Some would consider this wasteful.

But they’re wrong!

You are worthy of the best we have –
for all of it comes from You.

How dare we skimp on anything we offer to You!

Of course, even our best isn’t good enough for You!

My best isn’t good enough for You!
But may I never give less.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“They displease God…”
             (1 Thessalonians 2:15)

How dare I, Jesus?

Unthinkable. Inexcusable. Indefensible.

But I have.

Dear God, I have displeased You –
more times than I can count.

That wasn’t my aim.

All I was doing…was what I wanted to do.

The reason I said what I did…
was that’s what I felt like saying.

I just wasn’t thinking.

No…that’s not quite right.
I was thinking, all right – about myself.

But not about You.

I’m truly sorry.

That changes.
Today.

Pray this Lazaroo to the God who provides everything you need:

“…why go to Assyria to drink water from the River?”
(Jeremiah 2:18)

Great question, Jesus.

By turning to other gods, Your people broke Your heart.
How dare they turn to lifeless idols?

My guess is You’re asking the same question of me every time I sin

buying one of Satan’s lies.
How dare I drink from his foul, poisonous cesspool?

You are my Living Water.

So long as I drink deeply, daily from Your Spring
I will never thirst.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“…have you not…become judges with evil thoughts?”
(James 2:4)

I was about to say, “Not me, Jesus!”

But denial does me no good.
Actually, it does me a lot of harm.

So let me ask the One who knows me better than I know myself:

Am I judging unfairly?

If so, what could I be thinking?

Don’t I hate it
when others who have no idea what I’m going through
judge me?

How dare I do that to them!
