Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…when the report was investigated…”
(Esther 2:23)

How many times have I heard and repeated a story

without first investigating it, Jesus?

Worse yet –

how many times have I acted on that uninvestigated story?

Why would I do that?

Was it because I wanted it to be true?
Or maybe checking out the story seemed too complicated.

But if the story was about me…

wouldn’t I want the person who heard it to first check it out

before passing it on?

Pray this Lazaroo in excited obedience:

“Phillip found Nathanael and told him…”
(John 1:45)

All it took was one encounter with You, Jesus…

and Phillip had to go tell somebody!

How many encounters have I had with You?

How many times have You intervened in my life to help me?

And what about the most important, life-changing time of all –

when You gave me the gift of faith to believe in You
which changed my destiny from hell…to heaven?

I’ve gotta go tell somebody!

Pray this Lazaroo in marveling gratitude:

“…he went and lived in a town called Nazareth.”
(Matthew 2:23)

Your stepdad had no idea he was fulfilling Scripture, did he, Jesus?

He just picked out the town that seemed to be a safer place to live.

How many times do I unknowingly do the same thing with my choices –

the places I live
the vehicles I drive
the relationships I enjoy
the work I do?

Absolutely all of it fits perfectly –

into Your plan for the ages.

Be amazed, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the army had no more water…”
(2 Kings 3:9)

They were Your people, Jesus

but they failed to plan ahead.

They rushed off on their mission

but failed to think the whole thing through.

Sadly, I can identify.

How many times, LORD? How many times?

Still, You didn’t leave them hanging!

You came through for them – miraculously.

I deserve it less than they did, LORD…

but again and again and again
You still keep coming through for me.

Pray this Lazaroo with overwhelming gratitude:

“Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD…”
(Jonah 3:3)

Finally, Jesus.

After he disobeyed You the first time.
After he ran from You.
After You had to scare the living daylights out of him.

Now he obeys.

Sadly, I can identify!

How many times have You had to correct me
turn me around?

You could say, “Too late, Bucko! I’m sick and tired of you.”

But You don’t.

With loving, forgiving arms open wide

You welcome me back home.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“…the…struggle…you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.”
(Philippians 1:30)

Okay, Jesus…

that’s real!

How many times have I begged You to intervene –

cried and pleaded for a miracle –

that still hasn’t come?

I know.

It’s all about Your timing.

I want deliverance now.

I live in the now.

But Your perspective is a little different:

higher, wider, deeper, bigger

better.

You see the end from the beginning

because You Are

the Beginning and the End.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“Men of Israel, listen to this:”
(Acts 2:22)

Because of what You had just done, Jesus

You had their attention.

So Peter proceeded to seize the moment and tell them about You.

Sounds like a plan!

But how often have I been totally oblivious?

How many times have I failed to recognize my opportunity?

O God!

Please help me recognize very time
You’ve grabbed their attention.

Then help me seize that priceless moment
to tell them about You.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful faith:

“Go to the great city of Ninevah…”
(Jonah 3:2)

Those words sound familiar, Jesus.

Oh. Right:

You already said them to Jonah
after which, he ran the other way.

You had to stop him in his tracks
teach him a powerful lesson
turn him around.

How many times have You had to give me the same instructions, Father?

Thank You so much for Your incomprehensible patience!

‘cause I’m not on my second chance, Holy Spirit.

but somewhere in my second billionth.

Pray this Lazaroo with informed perspective:

“…he began to draw back…”
(Galatians 2:12)

There’s a time to draw back, Jesus –

when I’ve made a mistake.

But sometimes it’s a mistake to draw back.

The great Apostle Peter was making that mistake.

How many times have I drawn back when I shouldn’t have

or failed to draw back when I should?

That’s done. In the past.

You want me to learn from it
not obsess over it.

From now on

may I listen solely to You.
