Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai…”
(Haggai 1:1)

It’s not every day that You speak out loud to someone on earth, Jesus.

If You spoke like that to me
I’d mark the date too.

I’d probably make a note of the time, as well.

How often I’ve wished You would tell me exactly what You want me to do!

Though I don’t in any way, shape or form deserve it,
I know You can.

But there’s a reason You don’t.

Probably many reasons.

One of which is You’re waiting on me

to pay attention to what You’ve already spoken to me

through Your Word.

Learn from this bad example, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“If someone ventures a word with you, will you be impatient? But who can keep from speaking?”
(Job 4:2)

And so it begins to unravel, Jesus.

Job’s three friends were awesome
as long as they kept silent.

But now, Job’s friend Eliphaz can’t endure Job’s complaints without rebuking him.

Like Job, Eliphaz totally misreads what’s going on.
But that doesn’t stop him from giving his judgmental opinion.

How often have I done that, Father –

made a suffering person’s load heavier?

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads…”
(Ezra 3:12)

The world doesn’t look the same to all of us, does it, Jesus?

My age and level of responsibility
significantly affect how I see what’s happening.

There’s a danger with that, isn’t there?

At each stage of life I’m tempted
to think my perspective is superior to others’.

In some instances, that may be true.

But show me how much of the time
it’s nothing but self-centered delusion.

Pray this Lazaroo in honest self-assessment:

“These people are…faultfinders…”
(Jude 1:16)

Okay, Jesus –

When my job is quality control
I have to find and report every fault! đŸ˜‰

But when it comes to my relationships with others?

What they need most from me is encouragement
not relentless criticism.

How often do Your people fall short because of discouragement –

especially when somebody comes along
and nitpicks them to death?

Why would I ever do that?

Maybe because I’d rather find fault in others
than in myself.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“Men of Israel, listen to this:”
(Acts 2:22)

Because of what You had just done, Jesus

You had their attention.

So Peter proceeded to seize the moment and tell them about You.

Sounds like a plan!

But how often have I been totally oblivious?

How many times have I failed to recognize my opportunity?

O God!

Please help me recognize very time
You’ve grabbed their attention.

Then help me seize that priceless moment
to tell them about You.
