Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you…”
(2 Thessalonians 3:2-3)

I need some of that strength, Jesus.

Right now.

Did I say, “some” of that strength?

Make that “a lot” of Your strength!

There are times when Satan’s attacks are relentless

day after day after day.

Without You, I’d never make it.

With You – in Your Strength –

I know I will!

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Beyond them, Benjamin and Hasshub made repairs in front of their house; and next to them, Azariah son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, made repairs beside his house. Next to him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section, from Azariah’s house to the angle and the corner…”
(Nehemiah 3:23-24)

Some people only take care of themselves, Jesus

but a precious few also take care of others.

In Your strength and by Your grace
count me in their number!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate…”
(Joel 2:13)

Oh, yes You Are, Jesus!

You Are Gracious!

So kind to me.
So tender with me.

You refuse to treat me as my sins deserve.

And You Are Compassionate!

You get me.
You understand why I stumble.

You give me chance after chance after chance!

You keep lifting me up

brushing me off

and sending me back into the fray

not in my own strength

but in Yours.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.”
(Revelation 2:17)

O Jesus!

As if seeing You, all my loved ones and heaven itself isn’t enough

You’re giving me even more incentive to hear You
and in Your strength be victorious?

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Pray this Lazaroo in listening obedience:

“Its slave girls…beat upon their breasts.”
(Nahum 2:7)

When men do that, Jesus

they do so in triumph
boasting of their strength.

When women do that

they’re in agony!

How do I respond when I see someone gripped by intense suffering, Father?

Do I have compassion?

Do I check with You
to see if there’s something You want me to do?

True, I can’t bear every burden, fix every problem.

But when You prompt me to act, Holy Spirit

in Your strength, I’ve got to try.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“The woman said, ‘The serpent deceived me, and I ate.’”
(Genesis 3:13)

Who among us cannot identify with those words, Jesus?

Not one.

Every human being on earth old enough to know right from wrong

knows what it is to be deceived by Satan
and to give in to temptation.

I’d do well to remember that my soul has an enemy and a name:

Satan!

So that in the strength of Your superior Name

I can tell him:

“NO!”

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“They dash to the city wall…”
(Nahum 2:5)

That’s what enemy soldiers did, Jesus…

when attacking a city they felt confident they could destroy.

They didn’t crawl or walk.

They ran to the wall –
eager to destroy those cowering within.

Perhaps that’s what the enemies of my soul do, Father.

They’ve seen the sins and blunders of my past.
They assume I’ll keep right on sinning and blundering.

But by Your grace and in Your strength:

Not this time.

Draw upon God’s strength, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“They plunge through defenses without breaking ranks.”
(Joel 2:8)

Such was this supernatural, punishing plague of locusts, Jesus.

For them to plunge through all defenses was terrifying enough.
But to do so without confusion or loss?

They were simply mowing down everything in their path.

May no such enemy ever be unleashed on me!

or on those I love.

But it makes me wonder:

If evil can do that
why don’t we – in Your strength –

do that to Satan?

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“…you are faithful…”
(3 John 1:5)

If only You could say that about me, Jesus!

Well…at least in some areas…You can.

But not in all.

There are seasons, days, moments
when I drop the ball.

That’s a euphemism I prefer

to confessing that I’ve inexcusably sinned.

I know no one is perfect.

I’m aware we all stumble in many ways.

But that doesn’t change the fact that in Your strength

I’ve got to give my all

because You deserve better.
