Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“‘How gladly would I treat you like my children and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of any nation. I thought you would call me “Father” and not turn away from following me. But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you, Israel, have been unfaithful to me,’ declares the Lord.”
(Jeremiah 3:19-20)

I have no intention of turning away from You, Jesus!

Not ever.

It is my desire to remain faithful to You

every moment
of every hour
of every day

until You call me home to be with You!

Pray this Lazaroo with absolute confidence:

“At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts. In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel, and together they will come from a northern land to the land I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.
(Jeremiah 3:17-18)

No matter how unlikely that appears at this moment, Jesus

this will happen!

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise. Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come.”
(Galatians 3:18-19)

We were in that holding pattern for a long time, Jesus!

You’re the Seed that came.

Abraham was looking forward to Your coming.

I’m looking back at your coming…

and forward to Your coming again!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.”
(Galatians 3:17-18)

You keep Your promises, Jesus –

no matter what happens in the meantime
no matter how long I have to wait.

Help me not to miss it!

when You keep Your promise
in a way and time I didn’t expect.

Pray this Lazaroo with unswerving holy intent:

“Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau…”
(Obadiah 1:21)

You gave the entire promised land to the descendants of Jacob, Jesus

even though Esau was the firstborn
the one traditionally in line to receive the inheritance.

But Esau had no heart for You

didn’t value what You value.

So he lost his chance

leaving the descendants of his younger brother
to rule over the whole land.

O God!

May what I value
perfectly align with You.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“…a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it.”
(Ecclesiastes 2:21)

Well, no, Jesus.

If unwise, it doesn’t have to be done that way.

Does it usually happen the way Solomon describes it? Yes.

But is that necessarily bad? No.

One of the joys of life is working hard

so I can pass the fruit of my labors on to those I love.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land…”
(Zechariah 2:12)

I don’t usually think of You inheriting anything, Jesus.

Normally, I think of You as the Inheritance-Giver.

But just as You chose Israel out of all the nations on earth

You chose one of her 12 tribes as Your inheritance:

Judah.

At the end of his life, Jacob prophesied over his son Judah

that a Ruler would come from him.

You Are the Lion of Judah.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“…the house of Jacob will possess its inheritance.”
(Obadiah 1:17)

That’s an easy distinction to overlook, Jesus.

It’s one thing to be left an inheritance
another thing to possess it.

The promise of an inheritance is beautiful, motivating, comforting

but if it doesn’t pan out
it’s devastating.

You’ve promised me an unimaginably great inheritance in heaven

which is mine by faith.

My faith, however

is confirmed by my obedience.

Last time I checked

faith without deeds is dead.
