Pray this Lazaroo with sharp anticipation:

“Here is a trustworthy saying…”
(2 Timothy 2:11)

Of course, everything in Your Word is trustworthy, Jesus

so when You set up what You’re about to say like this

You’re telling me it’s huge.

Not only that…

but it’s a “saying” –

something You want frequently repeated
so Your people get it deeply embedded in their DNA –

something You probably want me to memorize.

Okay. Got it. Ready:

The next words I read
are gonna be somethin’ else!

Take heed, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Then the word of the LORD came…”
(Jonah 3:1)

That word, “Then” is huge, isn’t it, Jesus?

It implies that something went before it.

Did it ever!

Jonah had a near-death experience
orchestrated by You.

Now that You had his attention

You gave him his marching orders.
Again.

I can do what Jonah did and wait for the “then,” can’t I?

Or I can skip the near-death experience and pay attention –
which Jonah should have done the first time.
