“Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, ‘Why are you thinking these things?’”
(Mark 2:8)

I’ve wondered the same thing about my own thoughts, Jesus!

“Why am I thinking these things?”

I don’t ask that when my thoughts are pure

when I’m thinking about things that honor You.

I ask it when my thoughts are evil and disobedient to You.

Purify my thoughts, O God!

Before You spoke the universe into existence
before You created the heavens and the earth
before You created human beings in Your own Image
before You chose a people out of every nation on earth

You knew You would have to come to earth as one of us

and give Your life on the cross to pay for our sins.
