Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“Hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right…because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.”
(Micah 3:9,12)

Your gift and call to be a leader is a staggering responsibility Jesus.

It gives to a human being the ability to sway others

for right
or for wrong

and then to face the consequences.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“A man will seize one of his brothers in his father’s house, and say, ‘You have a cloak, you be our leader; take charge of this heap of ruins!’ But in that day he will cry out, ‘I have no remedy. I have no food or clothing in my house; do not make me the leader of the people.’”
(Isaiah 3:6-7)

I know what it is to have no remedy, Jesus.

From the bottom of my heart, from the marrow of my bones:

Intervene, LORD!

I beg You!

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“But when they cried out to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, who saved them. The Spirit of the Lord came on him, so that he became Israel’s judge…So the land had peace for forty years, until Othniel son of Kenaz died.”
(Judges 3:9-11)

It takes a leader, doesn’t it, Jesus?

One who is totally committed to You.

Raise up for us those leaders, Father!

Oh, how we need them.

Pray this Lazaroo with concern:

“…Diotrephes…loves to be first…”
(3 John 1:9)

What’s up with people like that, Jesus?

Are they leaders? Role models? Winners?
People I’d love to have on my team?

Well…no.

You haven’t called me to be better than anyone else.

You want me to be the best version of myself

You’ve created me to be

then leave the outcome to You.

You’re looking for people who long to please You

not people driven to be superior to everyone else.

Pray this Lazaroo with a pleading heart:

“Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his district. Next to him, the repairs were made by their fellow Levites under Binnui son of Henadad, ruler of the other half-district of Keilah.”
(Nehemiah 3:17-18)

These weren’t just leaders, Jesus.

They were rulers.

When people of this stature and authority get their hands dirty in order to respond to a crisis

it inspires everyone else to do likewise.

God give us such people at the very top!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“He made the curtain of blue, purple and crimson yarn and fine linen, with cherubim worked into it. For the front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits long, each with a capital five cubits high.”
(2 Chronicles 3:14-15)

King Solomon didn’t actually do the work, Jesus

but he’s the one who ordered it done.

If he hadn’t, the temple wouldn’t have been built.

From leader to worker

it takes us all!

Be energized, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“When the news reached the king of Ninevah…”
(Jonah 3:6)

For the average person

it’s almost impossible to get a message to a big country’s leader, Jesus.

Even if it affects a huge number of people

telling them what they need to hear seems hopeless.

But it isn’t!

Not for You!

If the message on my heart for that leader comes from You

show me how to send it in the most effective way!

I’ll trust You to deliver it.

Pray this Lazaroo with self-evaluation:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke…”
(Philemon 1:23-24)

Everybody wanted in on the greetings, Jesus.

And no wonder!

Philemon was a wealthy leader in Your early Church
deeply respected by the other believers.

I can’t help but wonder, though…

would they have been as eager to greet a poor nobody?

Would I?

Wealthy leaders receive many greetings.

But warm words mean a whole lot more
to poor nobodies.

Pray this Lazaroo with humility:

“Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of a half-district of Beth Zur, made repairs up to a point opposite the tomb of David, as far as the artificial pool and the House of the Heroes.”
(Nehemiah 3:16)

Here’s another ruler willing to get his hands dirty, Jesus!

Maybe that’s why You lifted him into leadership.

Thank You for every person in high position

who doesn’t think they’re too good
to do whatever needs doing
no matter how menial.

Leaders like that

are easy to follow.

Stand corrected, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“It is decreed…”
(Nahum 2:7)

I can issue decrees all day long, Jesus –

as can every king, president, prime minister, chairman
judge, commissioner, CEO, leader and person on earth.

But not one blessed thing will happen

unless YOU decree it!

Sometimes we get pretty full of ourselves

carried away by our titles, positions, responsibilities
all too often forgetting to Whom we’re responsible:

You.

When we fail to check in with the Boss of all bosses

our puny decrees fall flatter than a flitter.
