Why do You treat us so much better than we deserve, Jesus?

It’s Your deep, abiding love, isn’t it?

Thank You!

But I can’t let it stop here, can I?

There are those who’ve wronged me
even as I have wronged You.

May I extend to them
Your deep, abiding love!

What a sobering reminder, Jesus!

I need to make a cool assessment of the things I’ve accumulated and face it:

None of it goes with me.

Naked I came into this world
Naked of even my flesh I depart.

You expect me to be a good steward of all You’ve placed in my care

without becoming attached to any of it.

Every possession I get to keep
awaits me in heaven.

Solomon’s nervous about what his heirs are going to do after he’s gone, Jesus.

I’m sure my parents had some of those same thoughts about me.
Maybe I’ll feel the same toward my kids!

But what matters isn’t the stuff I leave behind, is it?

It’s the quality of my children’s 1on1 relationship

with You.
