Pray this Lazaroo in awed faith:

“In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.”
(Luke 2:1,4)

Did Joseph know that He was fulfilling Scripture, Jesus?

Whether or not he knew
that’s exactly what he was doing.

I love that You prompted Caesar Augustus to do his part, too!

Ask God to fill you with fiery passion, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“‘I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me,’ declares the Lord. ‘Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, Israel, prepare to meet your God.’”
(Amos 4:11-12)

I’m a burning stick You’ve snatched from the fire, Jesus!

But hallelujah, I’m burning with new fire –

blazing with love for You!

Beg God for patience, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait…”
(Jude 1:21)

Waiting is so hard, Jesus!

I long to experience the full measure of what You have in store for me.

I confess my impatience.
I want it all now!

But I trust that You know best.

Each stage of life You’ve brought me through
has prepared me for the next.

Now is no exception.
When I’m fully ready –

and only then!

will Your next adventure for me be revealed.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“So when we could stand it no longer…”
(1 Thessalonians 3:1)

I love knowing that Paul had that emotion, Jesus!

But it was more than mere emotion, wasn’t it?
You were moving on his heart to do something about it –

which is exactly what he did.

Work through my emotions too, LORD!

May they not be unreliable, leading me astray.
May they instead be guided by You

goading me, prompting me, pushing me, driving me

to do the very things You’ve called me to do!

Pray this Lazaroo in breakthrough understanding:

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding…”
(Colossians 2:2)

Wow, Jesus.

Complete understanding doesn’t come from hours of research alone.

It’s incomplete

until Your people are encouraged in heart
and united in love.

That doesn’t mean You don’t want us to study Your Word.

You do!

But it does mean that there’s no substitute

for the loving, encouraging assembling of ourselves together.

Pray this Lazaroo with heartfelt allegiance:

“Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised. So then, if those who are not circumcised keep the law’s requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised?”
(Romans 2:25-26)

Bottom line, Jesus?

It’s not about my outward appearance.
It’s about the condition of my heart.

If I truly love You
I’ll obey You.

It really is that simple.

Pray this Lazaroo in the holy fear of God:

“Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone! Even when their drinks are gone, they continue their prostitution; their rulers dearly love shameful ways. A whirlwind will sweep them away, and their sacrifices will bring them shame.”
(Hosea 4:17-19)

After repeated willful sin

there comes a point of no return, doesn’t there, Jesus?

when a person – even an entire nation –
are joined to their idols in unholy matrimony

till death and destruction come
and they perish together.

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn introspection:

“…keep yourselves in God’s love…”
(Jude 1:21)

Your love is legendary, Jesus.

No matter how many times I mess up

You forgive me.

HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!

But this command from You through your half-brother Jude

reminds me that I bear a clear and definite responsibility.

If I deliberately and repeatedly sin against You
thinking to take advantage of your love

I might want to think again.

Would anyone who truly belongs to You

callously, premeditatively
do such a thing?

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“‘It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses. What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?’ declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.”
(Isaiah 3:14-15)

May you never say that of me, Jesus!

I know You love and care for the poor.

That means I had better love and care for them, too –

offering them the wholehearted respect
due everyone created in Your Image.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. But you are a chosen people…”
(1 Peter 2:8-9)

I hardly know what to do with this, Jesus.

To think that some people are destined to reject You
seems so unfair.

But to think that You chose and destined me to accept You?
That’s awesome!

Bottom line?

I trust You!
Your ways are far superior to mine.

And I am beyond grateful

to be included in Your wholly undeserved, unfathomable love!
