Pray this Lazaroo in patient confidence:

“In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. His ways are always prosperous; your laws are rejected by him; he sneers at all his enemies. He says to himself, ‘Nothing will ever shake me.’ He swears, ‘No one will ever do me harm.’”
(Psalm 10:4-6)

From a distance, Jesus

that’s the way it seems.

While the righteous suffer

it looks like the wicked are doing just fine.

But You’ve made it clear:

Their day is coming.

Pray this Lazaroo with overwhelming gratitude:

“Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.”
(Galatians 3:1)

They hadn’t seen you crucified, Jesus

anymore than I have.

But a faithful preacher of Your Word made it so clear to them

that it was as if they had been there on that fateful day
looking up at You on the cross

as have I.

So, no more excuses. Nothing else is needed.

You died for me!

That’s all the motivation I need

to live for You

Take the words of this Lazaroo as a personal warning:

“On the day I punish Israel for her sins, I will destroy the altars of Bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.”
(Amos 3:14)

You have to be pretty angry to destroy your own altar, Jesus!

But it was because Your people had made a mockery of it.

They kept going through the motions of worshiping You

but their sinful lives made it clear:

Their devoted words
were nothing but lies.

Be filled with hope as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I hope to be restored…”
(Philemon 1:22)

Paul was talking about being restored to the church that met in his friends’ home, Jesus.

But those first five words can be prayed by all of us

including me.

You made it clear that following You is not only a joy…

but also requires me to bear a cross – of one kind or another.

Cross-bearing has to be done…but tears me down, Father.

In Your way and time:

Restore me!

Take a clear-eyed look, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…children who do not yet know good from bad…”
(Deuteronomy 1:39)

Those have to be some pretty young kids, Jesus

because most little ones catch on awfully quick.

Oh, they may not understand why something is good or bad

but even as babies they can immediately tell
when their mothers and fathers are pleased or displeased.

You’ve made it clear:

A child’s character is revealed
by what they do.

So is mine.
God help me, so is mine.

Pray this Lazaroo…overwhelmed:

“He will give strength to his king…”
(1 Samuel 2:10)

That’s a great promise, Jesus

I’m really happy for the kings You’ve chosen.
They certainly need Your strength.

If only I were a king!

Wait a minute…

I am!

You’ve elevated me way above my station.

You’ve made it clear: I will reign in Your kingdom!

Oh, not on my own.
In and through You.

You’ve promised:

If I endure, I’ll reign with You –

not temporarily –

but forever and ever.

Take your stand, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
(Revelation 2:9)

You’ve made it clear, Jesus

that true Jews are not merely children of Abraham outwardly
but are those who live by the faith of Abraham
through trust in You alone for their salvation.

May I never become part of any religious group that denies You

as the true Jewish Messiah
who was promised to come to earth

as Savior of the world.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“…the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.”
(Acts 2:20)

You’ve made it clear, Jesus:

You’re coming.

I know it will happen.

I just don’t know when.

I know it will happen because You declared in advance You would come the first time.

And on this Christmas Eve I’m reminded:
You kept Your Word!
You came!

But this next coming of Yours?

Wow. What a day that will be!

When You rescue Your people
from the coming wrath.
