Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

[The man:] “’You are a garden fountain, a well of flowing water streaming down from Lebanon.’ [The woman:] ‘Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere. Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.’”
(Song of Songs 4:15-16)

The man praises her, Jesus…

the woman responds in kind.

Give me Your words to brighten someone’s day!

And when they brighten mine
help me respond in kind.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. ‘For whom am I toiling,’ he asked, ‘and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?’”
(Ecclesiastes 4:8)

I suspect this man’s work was his enjoyment, Jesus!

Some people like to play games.
Others like to watch shows.
Still others enjoy visiting with friends.

But some people get the most pleasure from their work.

Help me enjoy whatever You’ve called me to do!

Pray this Lazaroo with eyes riveted on Jesus:

“In the middle of the night something startled the man; he turned—and there was a woman lying at his feet!”
(Ruth 3:8)

Ruth had broken protocol, Jesus.

It was not their custom to allow women in the threshing floor.

But Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi told her to do it

and as far as Ruth was concerned, that trumped their customs.

You honored it!
Naomi was right.

Give me the wisdom to know when to do what’s expected

and when You’ve called me
to take the road less traveled.

Take a second look, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Then Peter said, “‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk.”
(Acts 3:6-8)

What Peter had sure beat silver and gold, Jesus!

How many times have I, like that beggar
wanted so much less than You were willing to give?

O God!

Increase my faith!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“Jesus declared, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’ ‘How can a man be born when he is old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!’”
(John 3:3-4)

The New Life You grant to all who put their faith in You, Jesus

is a fresh, brand-new start
even more profound

than the miracle
of a baby’s first breath
on this earth.

Pray this Lazaroo in mounting anticipation:

“Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, ‘With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.’ Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.”
(Genesis 4:1-2)

And so the stage is set, Jesus.

It begins with joy
and ends with tragedy.

Two very different boys
two very different outcomes.

Only You know why life sometimes works this way

but one day, You’ll explain it all!

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“Now a man who was lame from birth…asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, ‘Look at us!’ So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.”
(Acts 3:2-5)

He was about to get something all right, Jesus…

but it wasn’t from Peter and John.

It was from You!

He wanted money, but what he needed was to be healed.

That’s what I desire, Father!

Not what I think I want
but what You know I need.

Pray this Lazaroo in chastened awareness:

“…Jesus asked them, ‘Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?’ But they remained silent. He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, Stretch out your hand.’ He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.”
(Mark 3:4-5)

That’s how You work nearly every miracle, Jesus –

in spite of our animosity, doubt and outright disbelief.

True, some miracles are granted to those who have faith

which comes directly from You

as a gift.

Pray this Lazaroo in happy anticipation:

“So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.”
(Genesis 3:23-24)

What a heartbreak, Jesus!

We’ve been mourning that loss ever since.

But in heaven –

for those of us who’ve placed our trust in You –

that longing will be fulfilled!

Lean heavily on God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Now the overseer… must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)
(1 Timothy 3:2,4-5)

What a challenge for this man You’ve called into Your service, Jesus!

You know how Satan attacks him, his wife
and every member of his family.

Protect them, LORD!
