Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“‘Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, destroying them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me,’ declares the Lord.”
(Amos 4:9)

When our hearts are stubborn and unrepentant, Jesus

this is what it comes to.

Because Your loving kindness doesn’t compel us

all that’s left is pain.

O God!

May I respond to Your love
Your generosity to me
Your goodness, mercy and forgiveness!

May I never bring upon myself

Your wrath.

Pray this Lazaroo with gratitude, all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…he cannot disown himself.”
(2 Timothy 2:13)

Do I deserve to be kicked out of Your Church, Jesus?

Yes.
You’re perfect and I’m not.

Do I deserve to be excluded from heaven?

Yes.
You’re sinless.
I’m sinful.

Do I deserve to spend eternity in hell?

Absolutely.
I have knowingly, premeditatedly sinned.
Many times.

But I remain in Your Church. I’m going to heaven, not hell!

I put my trust in You alone.

You and I
are joined at the heart.

Pray this Lazaroo in overwhelmed gratitude:

“…remember…”
(Jude 1:17)

What a powerful word, Jesus!

“Remember!”

There’s way too much I forget, isn’t there?

the wonderful truths in Your Word that daily sustain me
the countless blessings with which You’ve showered my life
my own sins when I’m tempted to look down on others
the wonderful, Godly people You’ve brought into my world
the many times You’ve rescued me when I was in trouble
how awesome is the home You’ve prepared…

that awaits me in heaven!

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.”
(Galatians 2:15)

What wonderful news for everyone in the world who believes, Jesus!

and absolutely essential for me.

I’ve sinned too many times.

Accidentally? Without a doubt.
Times beyond counting.

But those aren’t the sins that haunt me nearly so much

as the ones I’ve committed
knowing full well they were wrong.

I’m so, SO very sorry!

Without Your grace
I’m undone.

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“He summons his picked troops, yet they stumble on their way.”
(Nahum 2:5)

What an honor to be chosen by You, Jesus –

to be given a holy task, a meaningful goal
a vital assignment!

But just because You’ve sent me

doesn’t mean I’ll complete my mission.

I have to stay deep, daily, moment-by-moment, 1on1 with You

or I’ll stumble along the way.

Sadly, that’s already happened – many times.

But hallelujah!

You keep picking me up
and sending me again.
