Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.”
(Proverbs 4:10-12)

These were Your words through King David to his son, the future King Solomon.

But they’re also Your words to me, Jesus.

You call me to walk in the way of wisdom

to make these promises come true in my life.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“I always thank my God as I remember you…”
(Philemon 1:4)

Who are these people in my life, Jesus?

Those who spark feelings of gratitude
every time I think of them?

In fact, You are the one
who placed them in my life!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Now comes the most personal question:

Is there anyone out there
who can say the same of me?

O God! Make me the kind of person

for whom others thank You
every time they remember me!

Pray this Lazaroo with fiery determination:

“Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding. Your men will fall by the sword, your warriors in battle. The gates of Zion will lament and mourn; destitute, she will sit on the ground.”
(Isaiah 3:24-26)

So this is what a curse looks like, Jesus

Your punishment –

doled out not upon the heathen
but upon Your people, who’ve forsaken You.

Keep me true, Jesus!

May Your curse never fall on me.

Pray this Lazaroo – overwhelmed with gratitude:

“Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand. The Lord said to Moses, ‘When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do.’”
(Exodus 4:20-21)

You not only sent Moses on a mission, Jesus

but You equipped him with everything he needed to succeed –

just as You’ve done for me.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.”
(Song of Songs 4:9)

You have stolen my heart, Jesus!

with one Promise from Your Word

followed by a thousand more

with Your death on the cross for me

followed by Your resurrection
and the certainty that because You live
I will live forever with You also.

Correction:

You didn’t steal my heart.
It was Yours before time began.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“Do not mortals have hard service on earth? Are not their days like those of hired laborers? Like a slave longing for the evening shadows, or a hired laborer waiting to be paid, so I have been allotted months of futility, and nights of misery have been assigned to me.”
(Job 7:1-3)

Job was telling the truth, Jesus.

That’s exactly how he felt.

He didn’t know it

but that wasn’t how his story would end.

You restored and blessed him with more than before!

No matter what I’m going through now

I trust the beautiful end You have in store for me!

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“…make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery…”
(Ephesians 3:9)

This isn’t only Paul’s assignment, Jesus

it’s mine, too.

Your good news isn’t hard to tell.

But it is hard to explain.

Why would the God of heaven come to earth as a man

and give Your life on the cross to save a wretch like me?

There’s one explanation and one explanation only:

You love us with a depth, passion and ferocity

that none of us can begin to comprehend.

Beg God for patience, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait…”
(Jude 1:21)

Waiting is so hard, Jesus!

I long to experience the full measure of what You have in store for me.

I confess my impatience.
I want it all now!

But I trust that You know best.

Each stage of life You’ve brought me through
has prepared me for the next.

Now is no exception.
When I’m fully ready –

and only then!

will Your next adventure for me be revealed.

Never forget! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But now be so kind as to look at me. Would I lie to your face? Relent, do not be unjust; reconsider, for my integrity is at stake. Is there any wickedness on my lips? Can my mouth not discern malice?”
(Job 6:28-30)

Job can’t believe it, Jesus.

His friends have stopped comforting him
and started accusing him –

insisting all his troubles
are his fault!

Somehow they’ve forgotten there’s an enemy of our souls

who attacks the righteous.
