Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.”
(Titus 2:11)

That’s just what it took for me, Jesus –

Your grace.

Not my gifts, skills and abilities

not my sterling character

not my spotless behavior.

I’m woefully lacking in all of that.

But You, in Your love, mercy and grace

plucked me from the fiery pits of hell where I was headed

saved me from myself
and chose me for Yourself.

I am eternally grateful!

Pray this Lazaroo in utter gratitude:

“The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one. Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.”
(Galatians 3:19-21)

The law is holy, righteous and good, Jesus!

but sinner that I am

I keep falling short of Your high standard.

Thank You for Your mercy, Jesus!

and for Your atoning death in my behalf on the cross.

Pray this Lazaroo in new awareness:

“Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.”
(Jude 1:22-23)

I’ve heard it for years, Jesus:

“Hate the sin, love the sinner.”

Most people don’t say anything about the sinner’s clothing.

But we should.
Your Word doesn’t contain throwaway lines.
Every Word from Your mouth has a specific purpose.

Clearly, You not only don’t want me to sin

You don’t want me to dress like a sinner!

Pray this Lazaroo with wholehearted adoration:

“The Lord said, ‘What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.’”
(Genesis 4:10-12)

What have I done, Jesus?

I deserve to be a restless wanderer…

but in Your stunning mercy to me through the cross

I rest in Your loving arms!

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The crack of whips, the clatter of wheels, galloping horses and jolting chariots!”
(Nahum 3:2)

Sounds I don’t want to hear, Jesus!

Sounds of my impending doom
for all the sins I’ve committed against You.

There’s no denying.

There have been many.
They’re what I deserve.

But they’re not what I want!

Forgive me, LORD!
Rescue me!

Do not hold against me the sins of my past
nor the sins of this very hour.

In Your mercy

Give me my second billionth chance.

Pray this Lazaroo in fervency of spirit:

“If thieves came to you, if robbers in the night—oh, what a disaster awaits you!—would they not steal only as much as they wanted?”
(Obadiah 1:5)

What a scary warning, Jesus!

Those who blatantly ignore Your love, goodness and mercy
will receive punishment beyond the norm.

Is there any way, shape or form in which I have committed this grievous sin?

If so, please forgive me!
In Your Might, help me turn around!

out of love and gratitude
not only from fear of punishment.

Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.”
(Amos 5:14-15)

This is Your Word through the prophet Amos, Jesus

to those who have sinned greatly.

I will do my best to follow it.

Fits me to a T.

Sell out totally to God as you pray ths Lazaroo:

“…to others show mercy, mixed with fear…”
(Jude 1:23)

At first, this sounds counterintuitive, Jesus.

Shouldn’t showing mercy be one of the happiest, safest actions on the planet?

Well…I might think so.

But actually, when I show mercy to someone who’s doing wrong
I’m in contact with a deadly, highly-contagious spiritual disease

especially if the recipient of my mercy
points out that my mercy means

they just got away with it!

Supernatural wisdom.

I desperately need Your supernatural wisdom.

Pray this Lazaroo…without excuse:

“We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago…But because our ancestors angered the God of heaven, he gave them into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar the Chaldean, king of Babylon, who destroyed this temple and deported the people to Babylon.”
(Ezra 5:11-12)

They knew, Jesus!

and didn’t try to hide it.

So often, we pretend we’re innocent.

We complain – as though we don’t deserve
the bad things happening to us.

But I know better.

I confess!
Have mercy on me!

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“But to Jonah this seemed very wrong…”
(Jonah 4:1)

What was this horrible thing Jonah thought You did, Jesus?

He didn’t just accuse You of doing wrong
he accused You of doing very wrong.

The “awful” thing You did

was being merciful.

The people of Ninevah deserved to be destroyed.

But when they repented
because Jonah preached their doom
You relented.

May I never be upset when You treat others better than they deserve!

Your mercy
is the only reason
I’m drawing another breath.
