Pray this Lazaroo in building anticipation:

“…about whom the prophets also wrote…”
(John 1:45)

The prophets wrote about You, Jesus

because Your Heavenly Father told them what to write.

But most of them had little real knowledge of who You’d really be.

You gave each of them a small piece of the puzzle to share
without ever revealing the whole picture.

It’s up to those of us who’ve come later to fit all the pieces together

until our jaws drop in stunned love and wonder.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble, grateful trust:

“I am not writing you a new command…”
(2 John 1:5)

That’s a good thing, Jesus –

because I’m not yet following the old ones.

Well…

I am most of them
but not all.

Sometimes that depresses me.

I know that by now, I should be farther along.

After all, the standard isn’t anything less than full and complete obedience.

But to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you love me anyway
means more than words can say.
