Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.”
(Romans 2:7-8)

Persistence is the key, isn’t it, Jesus?

An occasional good or bad deed doesn’t tell the whole story.

What I do or don’t do doesn’t save me.

But my behavior over time reveals

whether or not I’m saved.

So, Jesus…

my heart has a tablet.

I know – not the kind of tablet sold in electronics stores

but a real tablet nonetheless

the kind that goes deep into my very being
forever changing my thoughts, words, behavior.

Show me how to write Your words on the tablet of my heart, Holy Spirit!

ensuring that I will mature, grow, understand
and honor You.

Pray this Lazaroo with outrageous adoration:

“…the upright will live in the land…”
(Proverbs 2:21)

The “upright” You’re talking about

is a little bit more than merely standing erect, isn’t it, Jesus?

In fact, a person hurting and sick while flat on their back

can remain upright before You.

The posture You most value is uprightness of heart, spirit, mind.

When my inside is right
the outside of me follows.

So when my behavior’s not right

the place I need to correct
is inside.
