Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The shields of his soldiers are red…”
(Nahum 2:3)

That might be paint on their shields, Jesus…

but it’s probably blood.

Since their shields are covered in blood

and since they’re still standing
their enemies must have fallen.

These soldiers must be awfully good.

Not a pretty thought, Father!

But there’s no way around it:
that’s the reality of battle.

Some of those walking around have my blood on their shields, Father.

Why am I still here?
Only You.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful astonishment:

“Their blood will be poured out…”
(Zephaniah 1:17)

How different, Jesus!

When the blood of mere human beings is poured out

they die.

When Your blood was poured out

You died

then three days later

rose from the grave.

Fully man, You bled, grew hungry, became tired.

Fully God, You healed the sick

raised the dead
walked on water
halted storms.

Your innocent blood poured out on the cross

proven infinitely powerful
to save the sinful likes of me.
