You sure can do that, Jesus.

I can be racing along, making my plans

and in one instant
it can all be over.

I have no assurance of tomorrow.

What am I saying – “tomorrow?”

I have no assurance of my next breath –

the next beat of my heart!

My life is in Your hands

and I am so good with that.

Yours…

are the only hands I want to be in.

I don’t like to think of You this way, Jesus!

I prefer to honor You as the Author of Life.

But You’re both, aren’t You?

There’s no escaping it.

You’re either LORD of all…

or no LORD at all.

You brought me into this world

and You can take me out.

Please preserve my life for as long as You know it’s best

but when my work is done
take me out.
