Pray this Lazaroo with heartfelt passion:

“You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich…”
(Revelation 3:17-18)

I know I’m not “rich,” Jesus –

not the way the church of Laodicea claimed to be.

Nevertheless, I fully embrace Your counsel to them:

Sell me Your gold refined in the fire –

so I can become rich
in those ways only You desire!

Pray this Lazaroo in total amazement:

“The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.”
(Genesis 3:21)

Humanly speaking, this is incomprehensible, Jesus.

Adam and Eve knowingly, deliberately, blatantly disobey You.
As a result, they discover they’re naked.

Of course, there are consequences:

They have to leave the Garden of Eden.
Work and childbirth become harder, more painful.

But instead of abandoning them

You clothe them!

O God! Your loving mercy is unfathomable!

…which is why I’m still drawing a breath on this earth.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
(Genesis 3:11)

You had just asked the ultimate rhetorical question, Jesus.

Obviously, You knew he had eaten from the tree you told him not to.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have bothered him to be without clothing.
Just as obviously, he knew You knew.

What do I do when You nail me off-base through Your Word?

Do I excuse myself…

…or confess and repent?

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Who told you that you were naked?”
(Genesis 3:11)

It wasn’t You, was it, Jesus?

It was listening to Satan and eating the forbidden fruit
that caused Adam and Eve to feel naked.

Of course, nothing about their appearance had changed.

They weren’t wearing clothes before their disobedience.

But here’s the thing:

Until they sinned, being unclothed didn’t bother them.
It was sin against You that brought shame.

As always.

Only in You

is my shame taken away.

Pray this Lazaroo in simple awareness:

“I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
(Genesis 3:10)

The thing is, Jesus

I’m always naked before You.

You know my every thought
see my every action
hear my every word.

You know what I’m going to think, say and do

before I do it.

That day in the garden Adam and Eve hid in vain.

There’s no hiding from You!

My goal?

Think, speak and act with such purity

that I have nothing to hide.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“…they realized they were naked…”
(Genesis 3:7)

That’s…quite a realization, Jesus.

It’s not that they didn’t know what they looked like before.
It’s just that now, they felt vulnerable, embarrassed, ashamed.

What a loss!

But then, that’s what sin always does.
It promises much, delivers little.

Actually…that’s only partially true.

It never delivers what was promised

but it does dump on the sinner a ton!

…of heartache, disillusionment and pain.

Satan keeps selling

but this time
I’m not buying.
