Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“‘Go to Bethel and sin; go to Gilgal and sin yet more. Bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three years. Burn leavened bread as a thank offering and brag about your freewill offerings—boast about them, you Israelites, for this is what you love to do,’ declares the Sovereign Lord.”
(Amos 4:4-5)

On the cusp of this New Year, Jesus

I’ve got to remember it’s not enough to jump through the hoops.

For You…

it’s all about my heart.

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed expectation:

“I am in torment within…”
(Lamentations 1:20)

That’s the best way to start this New Year, isn’t it, Jesus?

The last thing I need to do is blunder into this first month

thinking today is just like the day before
this year is just like the last.

It isn’t.

If I put my hope in You alone

turning my back on every sin that has crippled me in the past

this year

can be the best of my life.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep resolve:

“…they are not gods at all.”
(Jeremiah 2:11)

As I begin this New Year, Jesus

please help me quickly – and once for all –
identify
which aspects of my life are “not gods at all.”

Is there any person, place or thing that wants to become my god?

Is there anything or anyone I’m holding onto
more tightly than I’m holding onto You?

If so, please show me!

I can’t afford to drag that kind of baggage
into 2016.
