Pray this Lazaroo in fervency of spirit:

“What can I do with you, Ephraim? What can I do with you, Judah? Your love is like the morning mist, like the early dew that disappears. Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets, I killed you with the words of my mouth—then my judgments go forth like the sun.”
(Hosea 6:4-5)

I’ve been loved with that same disappearing love Jesus.

It’s awful.

Love never fails.
Their love was a lie from the beginning.

No wonder You respond to its duplicity

with warning words
followed by blazing judgment.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him. Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.”
(Matthew 4:25-5:2)

No wonder large crowds followed You, Jesus!

You were healing every disease and sickness
delivering people from seizures, paralysis and demons
everywhere You went.

But those miracles helped people temporarily.

It’s Your teaching that transforms our lives eternally.

Pray this Lazaroo in supernatural awareness:

“You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain. Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates with choice fruits, with henna and nard, nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with every kind of incense tree, with myrrh and aloes and all the finest spices.”
(Song of Songs 4:12-14)

Solomon had a way with words, Jesus

and no wonder:

You’re the one who gave them to him!

Please give me the words I need to

bless
encourage
uplift
strengthen

those You’ve placed in my life!

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.”
(1 Timothy 3:2-3)

Those are a lot of requirements, Jesus.

No wonder some people see them
and back away from pursuing this holy office.

But these are the bare minimums!

Isn’t this the holy life to which You’ve called
absolutely every one of us?

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“The vision of Obadiah.”
(Obadiah 1:1)

No wonder You gave Obadiah a vision, Jesus…

along with a place among Your 66 books of the Bible!

Although he was palace administrator under the wicked King Ahab

he was a devout believer in You.

He hid a hundred of your prophets in caves to spare their lives

supplying them with food and water.

Help me realize, LORD

that You’ve strategically placed me where I am
to make maximum impact for You!

Pray this Lazaroo in wholehearted dedication:

“So Ruth gleaned in the field until evening. Then she threshed the barley she had gathered, and it amounted to about an ephah. She carried it back to town, and her mother-in-law saw how much she had gathered. Ruth also brought out and gave her what she had left over after she had eaten enough.”
(Ruth 2:17-18)

Such a work ethic, Jesus!

Such a heart to serve, to share, to honor her mother-in-law!

No wonder You chose her as your ancestral grandmother

many generations before Your virgin birth!

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful amazement:

“Your Majesty looked, and there before you stood a large statue—an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance. The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay.”
(Daniel 2:31-33)

You told Daniel exactly what King Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream, Jesus!

And no wonder.
You’re the one who gave the dream –

not for him alone
but also for us.

Pray this Lazaroo with self-evaluation:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke…”
(Philemon 1:23-24)

Everybody wanted in on the greetings, Jesus.

And no wonder!

Philemon was a wealthy leader in Your early Church
deeply respected by the other believers.

I can’t help but wonder, though…

would they have been as eager to greet a poor nobody?

Would I?

Wealthy leaders receive many greetings.

But warm words mean a whole lot more
to poor nobodies.

Cling to God’s promises, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Before them…the sky trembles.”
(Joel 2:10)

Those are some fearsome creatures You created, Jesus!

Punishment You inflicted on Your own people –
a terrifying swarm of supernatural locusts.

No wonder the very sky trembled!

But if I tremble before You –

terrified to sin against Your greatness, majesty, love and wisdom –

I’ll never have to tremble because of Your punishment.

Sadly, I’ve failed at that in the past

and experienced Your loving discipline…

which steered me all the way back

to You.

Pray this Lazaroo in head-shaking amazement:

Why have I found such favor in your eyes…?”
(Ruth 2:10)

How refreshing is that, Jesus?

In this day of people pounding their chests, swaggering –

I’m so used to hearing:

“It’s about time!”
“I’m the best there is!”
“Check me out!”

But here’s Ruth, so unassuming

that when someone does something nice for her
she’s stunned, not comprehending –

the exact opposite of an attitude of entitlement.

No wonder You selected her to become

one of Your many-times-removed great grandmothers.
