Pray this Lazaroo in wholehearted adoration:

“…to the church that meets in your home…”
(Philemon 1:2)

That’s how it started, isn’t it, Jesus?

In addition to gathering in the temple courts

small groups of Your people
met together in one another’s homes.

There they ate together
studied Your Word together
prayed together.

Certainly, we have awesome electronic tools at our disposal

to facilitate those two ways of meeting as Your Church.

But can we possibly improve on that simple plan today?

No.
We can’t.

Pray this Lazaroo in soul-searching recognition:

“Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?”
(Galatians 3:3)

When You put it that way, Jesus

it really does sound foolish.

And now that You mention it

that may be what I’m doing –
at least some of the time.

One part of me knows I can’t earn heaven by the good things I do

but there’s another part that still keeps trying.

No.
It’s You.
Not me.

All You.

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God who can:

“Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the Lord, defying his glorious presence. The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.”
(Isaiah 3:8-9)

This is terrifying, Jesus.

You’ve just described what is happening now
before my very eyes.

Sins that people used to commit in shame and darkness
they now proudly display in broad daylight
urging others to join them.

No!

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children. The more priests there were, the more they sinned against me; they exchanged their glorious God for something disgraceful.”
(Hosea 4:6-7)

No, Jesus.

No!

Not I.

On my life:

I will never exchange You for any person, place, or thing!

Never! Never! Never!

You are my All. My Everything.

My Only.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“So Benaiah entered the tent of the Lord and said to Joab, ‘The king says, “Come out!”’ But he answered, ‘No, I will die here.’ Benaiah reported to the king, ‘This is how Joab answered me.’ Then the king commanded Benaiah, ‘Do as he says.’”
(1 Kings 2:30-31)

Why did Joab want to die in Your tent, Jesus?

Was it to be close to You?

Can’t say as I blame him.

When I die
I want to be as close to You as possible.

Take each step of your life in faith-filled trust, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“So Benaiah entered the tent of the Lord and said to Joab, ‘The king says, “Come out!”’ But he answered, ‘No, I will die here.’”
(1 Kings 2:30)

Joab deserved to die, Jesus.

But so do I!
We’ve all sinned against You.

Joab wanted to die in Your tent.

So do I, LORD –
to be ushered into heaven in Your Presence!

I’m not afraid to die.

Just hold me real close
during whatever method You choose to get me there.

Pray this Lazaroo with strengthened resolve:

“If the person said to him, ‘Let the fat be burned first, and then take whatever you want,’ the servant would answer, ‘No, hand it over now; if you don’t, I’ll take it by force.’”
(1 Samuel 2:16)

How long have people abused their authority Jesus?

As long as Satan has stalked the earth?
This was going on 3,100 years ago!

I beg You: Shield me from such tyrants!

And when You give me responsibility

may I never lord it over others!

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“The woman said, ‘The serpent deceived me, and I ate.’”
(Genesis 3:13)

Who among us cannot identify with those words, Jesus?

Not one.

Every human being on earth old enough to know right from wrong

knows what it is to be deceived by Satan
and to give in to temptation.

I’d do well to remember that my soul has an enemy and a name:

Satan!

So that in the strength of Your superior Name

I can tell him:

“NO!”

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Now I rejoice…”
(Colossians 1:24)

Being able to rejoice in something good is wonderful, Jesus!

But that word, “Now” gives me pause.

Maybe Paul didn’t mean it how it sounds…

but I might infer that only because He liked what he was seeing
could he now begin to rejoice.

But by faith –

You want me to rejoice in You and what You’re doing
every day of my life – at all times!

whether I like what’s happening
or not.

On this Christmas day, pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“…they…stayed there three days…”
(Joshua 2:22)

So how long do You want me to stay where I am, Jesus?

A day? Three? A year?
For the rest of my life?

It’s good to know I’m where You want me

but to presume I will never move
is a mistake.

You want me to enjoy where You’ve placed me

but not to become complacent, thinking
“Now I know how this is going to play out.”

No.
Huh-uh.
I don’t know.
