Pray this Lazaroo in humble awareness:

“He overlaid the ceiling beams, doorframes, walls and doors of the temple with gold…”
(2 Chronicles 3:7)

Well…not exactly, Jesus.

Solomon ordered the work done.
It wouldn’t have happened without him.

But he didn’t personally overlay anything.
It was the workers who performed that golden task.

Leaders are essential…

…but so are workers.

Neither can succeed without the other.

Sometimes I’m the leader
sometimes I’m a worker.

But in whichever role I serve You

remind me to respect the other.

Pray this Lazaroo in ardent love:

“…God destined for our glory…”
(1 Corinthians 2:7)

I’m destined for glory, Jesus?

That thought boggles my mind.

I know who I am.
I know what I am.
I know how I speak, how I act, what I’ve done.

Glory…

isn’t exactly what I deserve.

And then that word, “destined!”

That means it’s going to happen.
Signed, sealed, delivered.

But it’s not me.

That’s for sure.

It’s You in me

changing me, transforming me, each day

into Your Likeness.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him…”
(2 Corinthians 2:7)

This wasn’t exactly a petty offense, Jesus.

The man had been having an affair with his stepmother.

Paul ordered them to put him out of the church.

But now, three years later, he tells them the man has learned his lesson. Take him back in!

Some of us don’t get that. We’d vote for permanent expulsion

until, like that man

we get caught in our own ugly sin.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“Because of you the LORD became angry with me…”
(Deuteronomy 1:37)

Well…not exactly, Jesus.

You didn’t become angry with Moses
because of what the Israelites did.

You became angry with Moses
because of his response to what they did.

Everybody stands before You for their own actions –

not those of someone else –

because we’re all accountable directly to You.

So maybe I’d better focus on my own
thoughts, words, actions

instead of trying to control – or blame – somebody else.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“…Jesus Christ…will be with us in truth…”
(2 John 1:3)

That’s the only place You will ever be with us, isn’t it, Jesus?

In truth.

You Are the Truth –

the Truth who sets me free.

Of course, the truth isn’t the only place You go.

You leave all the good people
in search of the one who is lost.

Well, not exactly.

You’re God.
You can do things we can’t.

You have a way of staying while You go.
