Pray this Lazaroo in humble obedience:

“The Dung Gate was repaired by Malkijah son of Recab…”
(Nehemiah 3:14)

Well, somebody had to repair that odoriferous gate, Jesus!

and good ol’ Malkijah was the one to do it.

I would guess that the line of people signing up for this job

was pretty short.

But not everything that needs to be done

is fun to do.

If all I do is what’s fun

a whole lot of what’s needed will go undone

…and that’s no fun.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble willingness:

“They also repaired…as far as the Dung Gate.”
(Nehemiah 3:13)

But that’s where they stopped, Jesus.

Can’t blame them a bit.

The gate through which the excrement of humans and animals was disposed of

was not an attractive place –
especially when the wind was blowing the wrong direction!

But oh, what an important service that gate performed –

along with those who transported
their odoriferous cargo through it!

Make me willing to do the necessary tasks

no one wants to do.
