Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it. The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.”
(Leviticus 6:12-13)

Why was it so important to You that the fire didn’t go out, Jesus?

Was it because You want the fire You’ve lit in my heart

to keep burning ever hotter until You call me home?

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.”
(1 Kings 3:4)

Big whoop.

Gibeon may have been the most important high place, Jesus
but Solomon was supposed to destroy all these high places –

not worship You on them.

May I never sin in the most important area of my life

in a badly mistaken notion that what I’m doing

honors You!

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“…as a penalty they must bring to the priest, that is, to the Lord, their guilt offering, a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value. In this way the priest will make atonement for them before the Lord, and they will be forgiven for any of the things they did that made them guilty.”
(Leviticus 6:6-7)

When they brought their offering to the priest, Jesus

in reality, they were offering it to You.

When I give my tithes and offerings to my church

in reality, I’m offering them to You.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“Did I not clearly reveal myself to your ancestor’s family when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh? Why do you scorn my sacrifice and offering that I prescribed for my dwelling? Why do you honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choice parts of every offering made by my people Israel?”
(1 Samuel 2:27, 29)

We think we’re getting away with it, Jesus

…but we’re not.

You see every underhanded thing we do.

Help me keep my hands on top of the table!

Pray this Lazaroo in unbounded gratitude:

“…the priest…shall… burn it on the altar on top of the food offerings presented to the Lord…In this way the priest will make atonement for them for any of these sins they have committed, and they will be forgiven. The rest of the offering will belong to the priest.’”
(Leviticus 5:12-13)

I’m so thankful that I don’t have to do this anymore, Jesus.

On the cross You gave Your life to become my sin offering.

I am wholly, completely, utterly forgiven!

Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

“You weep and wail because [the LORD] no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands.”
(Malachi 2:13)

When You refuse to look with favor on what I’m offering You, Jesus

I need to quit crying and start changing my ways.

Show me, LORD!

Are my tithes and offerings acceptable to You?
Are my attempts to serve You bringing You pleasure?

If not, please make it clear to me:

Where did I take a wrong turn?

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt.”
(1 Samuel 2:17)

We no longer make burnt offerings to You, Jesus.

Today, we give You tithes and offerings.
We offer our services of time and talent to Your Church.

We show love to You by our gifts to the poor
to those who are sick, suffering, grieving.

Let no one treat these precious offerings with contempt!

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house…”
(Hebrews 3:5)

Faithfulness is good, Jesus.

But Your description of Moses
shows me there are degrees of faithfulness.

Apparently, it’s possible to be faithful in part of Your house

and unfaithful in others.

A husband might be faithful to church
but unfaithful to his wife.

A woman may be faithful to serve others
but unfaithful in tithes and offerings.

Help me be like Moses:

faithful in all Your house!
