Pray this Lazaroo with Holy Spirit-engendered courage:

“Do not be afraid of them…”
(Ezekiel 3:9)

You don’t want me to be afraid, do You, Jesus?

In part, I know that’s because You love me.
When I suffer, You suffer.

But it’s more than that.

You don’t want me to be afraid
because I have You!

With You on my side –

or rather, with me on yours –

there is absolutely no reason on Your green earth

for me to be caught trembling in my boots.

Not ever.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“One group sat down on one side of the pool and one group on the other side.”
(2 Samuel 2:13)

This didn’t end well, Jesus.

It seldom does, when two opposing sides square off.

One of them was in the right, the other in the wrong

but people on both sides suffered and died.

The next time I get ready to square off against someone

please confirm for me beyond the shadow of a doubt
that I’m on Your side.

Pray this Lazaroo in fervency of spirit

“Brace yourselves…”
(Nahum 2:1)

When someone tells me to brace myself

I get a little tense, Jesus.

But when You tell me to brace myself?

LORD God Almighty!
I lock up, can’t function.

Except…

when You warn me to brace myself
You’re fighting for me, not against me!

giving me a heads up
so I can survive.

No amount of bracing myself can save me if You’re delivering the blow

but no weapon forged against me can prevail
if You’re my Defender.
