Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I will overturn royal thrones…”
(Haggai 2:22)

When royalty becomes corrupt, Jesus

their fate is sealed –

unless they repent.

No matter how many generations of powerful heirs have reigned

You can bring their line of succession to a halt

in an instant.

But all who look to You and Your loving sacrifice on the cross

will reign with You forever

in the only true royalty
that endures.

My hope –

my only hope –

is in You, Jesus!
Now and forever.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“…the word of the Lord is against you, Canaan, land of the Philistines.”
(Zephaniah 2:5)

All I need to succeed, Jesus

is for You to speak a word in my behalf.

All I need to fail

is for You to speak one word against me.

So the most important task of my life

is to discover how to have You speak for me!

which You do for all

who put our faith
in what You did for us
on the cross.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the room of the one who conceived me.”
(Song of Songs 3:4)

Some people would call her behavior extreme, Jesus.

And maybe it was.

But that’s what love does!

It calls us to sacrifice ourselves

for the sake of another –

which is exactly what You did for me

on the cross.

Pray this Lazaroo in bursting-with-joy gratitude:

“The grace…”
(Philemon 1:25)

Your grace, Jesus!

What You did for us on the cross –

dying for sins You didn’t, wouldn’t, couldn’t commit.

The guiltiest among us freely pardoned –

going scot-free!

The exact opposite of justice.
Absolutely nothing fair about it.

G.R.A.C.E.: “God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense!”

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I would never complain that I’m not getting what I deserve.

I don’t want what I deserve!

What I want is Your Total, Ineradicable, Undeserved, Unmerited

Matchless Grace!

Pray this Lazaroo in bated breath anticipation:

“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation…”
(1 Peter 2:1)

This is a fascinating command, Jesus.

Many of us who have trusted You as our Savior
view our salvation as a single event.

We said, “Yes!” to the good news
that You paid for our sins on the cross
and three days later rose from the dead.

But now – oh the excitement!

…to learn there’s more.

Pray this Lazaroo in submissive recognition:

“…when we were torn away from you…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:17)

Clearly, that was a painful time, Jesus

but You allowed it.
It’s entirely possible that You caused it!

Why would You allow something so painful to happen to one of Your own?

It’s because not everything that’s painful is bad, isn’t it?
Sometimes pain is useful, instructive, essential, eye-opening.

No greater example of that hard truth exists

than the suffering You endured on the cross

for those you love.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations.”
(Ephesians 2:14-15)

What two groups, Jesus?

The Jews and everybody else –

brought together by faith in You, their Messiah.

When You died on the cross and rose from the grave three days later

You replaced the demands of the law…

with Yourself.

Pray this Lazaroo in vivid recall:

“Then the priest is to take some of the blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.”
(Leviticus 4:30)

You made him use his finger to touch the blood of this goat, Jesus!

He probably didn’t want to
but that made it personal.

May this remind me of how achingly personal it got for You

for me

on the cross.

Pray this Lazaroo in unvarnished awareness:

“’Although you wash yourself with soap and use an abundance of cleansing powder, the stain of your guilt is still before me,’ declares the Sovereign Lord.”
(Jeremiah 2:22)

I can’t wash away my own sin, can I, Jesus?

A physical scrubbing can’t erase a spiritual offense.

My only hope is Your love, mercy and forgiveness!

And on the cross – HALLELUJAH!

You demonstrated all three.

Accordingly, I’ve got to place 0% of my faith in me

and 100% in You.

Pray this Lazaroo from the grateful depths of your soul:

“May the LORD repay you for what you have done.”
(Ruth 2:12)

That statement is a double-edged sword, isn’t it, Jesus?

Boaz meant it as a blessing – and it was!
You did, in fact, repay Ruth’s beautiful spirit toward her mother-in-law.

But when I’ve sinned, that’s the last thing I want to hear!

I don’t want to be repaid for the wrong I’ve done.

I want forgiveness!

Let me rephrase that:

I need forgiveness!

And that’s what You purchased for me on the cross.
