Pray this Lazaroo in Spirit-led recognition:

“But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’ Make the work harder for the people so that they keep working and pay no attention to lies.”
(Exodus 5:8-9)

Pharaoh was 100% wrong about their being lazy, Jesus.

He was wrong about their motivation, too.
They did intend to go sacrifice to You.

But his instincts were right about one thing:

Thanks to Your amazing power
They weren’t about to come back.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“‘In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘people will no longer say, “The ark of the covenant of the Lord.” It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made.’”
(Jeremiah 3:16)

Well one thing’s for certain, Jesus:

These are not those days.

We still remember Your ark.
There are many who miss it.

But Your Presence has moved beyond that ark

to indwell each of us who believe
by Your Holy Spirit.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“…the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers…”
(1 Timothy 3:11)

Amen, Jesus.

If there’s one thing that can ruin the harmony in Your Church
it’s a group of women who are malicious talkers.

Of course, there’s a second thing that can ruin the harmony in Your Church:

a group of men who are malicious talkers.

Even one man.
Even one woman.

That’s all it takes to create incalculable harm.

May I never be guilty of this disruptive sin!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him…”
(Colossians 2:6)

You didn’t promise, Jesus

that those who claim to believe in You will be saved.

It’s one thing to claim it
a totally different thing to live it.

You’ve declared that those who endure to the end

are those who will be saved.

I’ve made my start with You.

I intend to stay true to You
till my final breath.

Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.”
(Joel 2:26)

One day all of us will have plenty to eat, Jesus

but not yet.

One day all of us will avoid shame

but that day is still in the future.

However, there is one thing we can do:

We can praise Your holy Name!
For you have, indeed, worked wonders for us!

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful anticipation:

“And I declared that the dead, who had already died, are happier than the living, who are still alive. But better than both is the one who has never been born, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.”
(Ecclesiastes 4:3-4)

And so we’re blessed with another uplifting word from Solomon, Jesus.

For somebody so wise
he sure was in a snit of depression.

But he was almost right about one thing:

People in heaven are definitely happier
than those of us still on earth!

Pray this Lazaroo with an open heart:

‘In that day each of you will invite your neighbor to sit under your vine and fig tree,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”
(Zechariah 3:10)

That is a day, Jesus! A very special day.

It’s one thing to have enough for my family, my friends and myself.

But it’s a new day
when I have enough to share with my neighbors
some of whom, perhaps, I hardly know.

You love generosity.

But there’s a reason for that:

Unimaginable Generosity is who You Are!

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned…”
(Titus 2:7-8)

That’s a tall order, Jesus!

It’s one thing to teach with integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech

but quite another thing to do all that in a way
that’s impossible to condemn.

There’s always someone out there eager to condemn.

but with Your help and protection

I’ll do my best!

Pray this Lazaroo in sudden realization:

“‘I demand one thing of you: Do not come into my presence unless you bring Michal daughter of Saul when you come to see me.’ Then David sent messengers to Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, demanding, ‘Give me my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself for the price of a hundred Philistine foreskins.’”
(2 Samuel 3:13-14)

David refused to abandon his wife, for whom he risked his life, Jesus

just as You refuse to abandon me
for whom You paid with Your life!

Pray this Lazaroo with never-say-die grit:

“If we endure…”
(2 Timothy 2:12)

That’s one big “if,” isn’t it, Jesus?

It’s one thing to start strong.
I’ve done that plenty of times.

But it’s another thing entirely to keep going through the slog of the middle

all the way to the finish line.

The initial burst of excitement wanes.
There’s pushback…there are setbacks.
My run slows to a walk…a trudge…a crawl.

I’ve started far more times than I’ve finished.

But by Your grace
not this time.
