Pray this Lazaroo in Holy Spirit-guided introspection:

“Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder, never without victims! The crack of whips, the clatter of wheels, galloping horses and jolting chariots! Charging cavalry, flashing swords and glittering spears!”
(Nahum 3:1-3)

The city of Ninevah had it all, Jesus…

everything they needed to wreak havoc
on the weaker peoples around them.

How am I equipping myself, Father?

Is it all about being a blessing to others
or only about making things better

for myself?

Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.”
(Revelation 3:18-19)

Thank You for loving me that much, Jesus!

Forgive me for not being grateful at the time.

I’m ashamed to admit that It’s only when I look back

that I can feel the love.

You could have abandoned me in my sin

but You didn’t!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad”
(Isaiah 5:3-4)

I don’t know what more You could have done for me, Jesus!

I only pray that when You look at the results
of Your loving investment in me

You will find more good grapes
than bad.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”
(John 3:14-15)

Anyone bitten by those venomous snakes in the wilderness, Jesus

had only to look at the bronze snake on Moses’ pole

and they lived.

They lived because they believed what You told them

just as I will live because I believe what You’ve told me.

Pray this Lazaroo in fervency of spirit:

“If thieves came to you, if robbers in the night—oh, what a disaster awaits you!—would they not steal only as much as they wanted?”
(Obadiah 1:5)

What a scary warning, Jesus!

Those who blatantly ignore Your love, goodness and mercy
will receive punishment beyond the norm.

Is there any way, shape or form in which I have committed this grievous sin?

If so, please forgive me!
In Your Might, help me turn around!

out of love and gratitude
not only from fear of punishment.

Pray this Lazaroo with passionate gratitude:

“My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside. He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.”
(Isaiah 5:1-2)

That’s how beautifully You’ve treated me, Jesus

and how horribly I’ve treated You.

Please forgive me!

I desperately want You to receive full value
for Your loving investment in me!

Pray this Lazaroo in compassionate urgency:

“…these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight.”
(2 Peter 2:12-13)

My country’s disobedience has reached this very level, Jesus.

The God-defiant are gathering in large numbers
carousing in broad daylight.

Your judgment is on its way.

Please help me rescue as many as possible
before it’s too late.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“…a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening. It must be prepared with oil on a griddle; bring it well-mixed and present the grain offering broken in pieces as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.”
(Leviticus 6:20-21)

This was the offering Aaron and his sons brought to You, Jesus

on the day he was anointed.

You’ve anointed me, too, Father.

May I bring to You the finest.
Only the finest.

Pray this Lazaroo in abject humility:

“A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet…‘Lord, I have heard of your fame…’”
(Habakkuk 3:1-2)

Habakkuk isn’t the only one, Jesus.

So have I.

I’ve read the Bible. Marveled at Your miracles.

You’re All-Powerful.
There’s nothing You can’t do.

But I’ve also discovered the hard way:

I can’t make You grant me a miracle

just because I desperately want it

just because I believe

I absolutely have to have it.

That You know better than I do

is also part of Your fame.

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“But to Jonah this seemed very wrong…”
(Jonah 4:1)

What was this horrible thing Jonah thought You did, Jesus?

He didn’t just accuse You of doing wrong
he accused You of doing very wrong.

The “awful” thing You did

was being merciful.

The people of Ninevah deserved to be destroyed.

But when they repented
because Jonah preached their doom
You relented.

May I never be upset when You treat others better than they deserve!

Your mercy
is the only reason
I’m drawing another breath.
