Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“They…hoard plunder and loot in their fortresses.”
(Amos 3:10)

At first glance, this has nothing to do with me, Jesus.

But on second look, it nails me between the eyes.

The key word is “hoard,” isn’t it?

Could that apply to the things I’ve acquired
that I haven’t used for a long time –

things I’m holding onto “in case” I might need them?
Things I should let go of and share with others

who need them right now?

Wow.
Ouch.

Pray this Lazaroo with caution:

“Sit on the floor by my feet.”
(James 2:3)

I might tell a child to do that, Jesus…

but I’d never treat another adult that way.

Not literally.

However, I’m not sure that excuses me from applying this passage to my life!

When have I ever looked at someone else’s situation
and advised them to settle for something less than I have?

In that case, I’m saying to them what James tells me not to, aren’t I?

Wow.
Ouch.
