Pray this Lazaroo with renewed resolve:

“I have become its servant by the commission God gave me…”
(Colossians 1:25)

You’ve also given me a commission, Jesus!

I’m supposed to share Your good news
with those who don’t yet know You.

I like what everybody thinks St. Francis of Assisi had to say about that:

Preach the gospel at all times.
If necessary, use words.

Of course, Francis didn’t say that – but still, it reminds me:

My words have power
only if backed up by my life.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“…you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.”
(Acts 2:23)

Just as You predicted, Peter denied you three times, Jesus.

But not on this day.

He had seen You risen from the dead!

After Your resurrection He had eaten with You
talked with You, listened to You teach.

He saw You rise into the sky as You returned to heaven.

So on this day…

Peter proclaimed Your Word without fear!

Pray this Lazaroo with big picture perspective:

“…I must leave them to the one who comes after me.”
(Ecclesiastes 2:18)

Important reminder, Jesus.

All the stuff I’ve accumulated
will get left behind the moment I draw my last breath.

Maybe I should love things less

and love You more.

Maybe I should invest far greater time, energy and resources

in the lives of the people who inhabit this planet with me
and with whom I will spend eternity

if I make sure they hear about You.

Pray this Lazaroo in purest devotion:

“A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum…”
(Mark 2:1)

A second chance with You, Jesus.

Priceless.

During Your first visit to Capernaum

You taught with authority –
casting out demons, healing the sick.

That night the whole town showed up at Peter’s door.
But next day you left Capernaum to preach in nearby villages.

If I have strayed one inch from Your love, mercy, truth and power

draw me back to You, my Savior!
never to falter again.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“…listen carefully…”
(Ezekiel 3:9)

Why wouldn’t I listen carefully…

when it’s You speaking, Jesus?

Every word of Yours is flawless.

You alone have the words of eternal life!

You spoke the worlds into existence.

I exist because You spoke me into life.

So why do I sometimes only half-listen when Your Word

is taught
sung
preached?

How dare I?

You deserve greater respect than that.

I cannot survive

let alone thrive

without the sustaining power

of Your Word.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“My message and my preaching were not with wise…words…”
(1 Corinthians 2:4)

Well, that was totally unexpected, Jesus.

I would have thought as educated as he was
the Apostle Paul would have dropped pearls of wisdom on them

in every other sentence.

But he was no longer interested in impressing them

getting them to focus on himself.

He wasn’t trying to create followers of Paul.

He was all about one thing and one thing only:

pointing them to You.
