Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother…”
(Philemon 1:1)

He was the great Apostle Paul, Jesus

but not one molecule of his body wanted to make it all about him.

He willingly shared his leadership with the young man Timothy

to encourage him and validate his ministry with others.

How can I do less?

Show me the younger people You’ve placed in my life

for that very purpose –

and may I be as generous with them

as You have been with me.

Pray this Lazaroo with eternal perspective:

“Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus…”
(Philemon 1:1)

Wow, Jesus.

The way Paul puts that –

not a prisoner of Rome
but Your prisoner.

He makes a good point.

Had You not knocked him to the ground
revealed Yourself to him
and called him into Your service

he wouldn’t have been behind bars.

But then…

he wouldn’t have written 13 books of the New Testament
and been on his way to heaven.

Make me Your prisoner, Jesus!

…all the way Home.

Pray this Lazaroo with self-evaluation:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke…”
(Philemon 1:23-24)

Everybody wanted in on the greetings, Jesus.

And no wonder!

Philemon was a wealthy leader in Your early Church
deeply respected by the other believers.

I can’t help but wonder, though…

would they have been as eager to greet a poor nobody?

Would I?

Wealthy leaders receive many greetings.

But warm words mean a whole lot more
to poor nobodies.

Pray this Lazaroo in fascination:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner…”
(Philemon 1:23)

So, Jesus…

Does Epaphras gets mentioned in the Bible
solely because he was in jail with Paul?

No.

There was something special about this man.

He and Paul had made a connection.
Knowing Paul, he had probably led Epaphras to You.

In a sense, Paul led me to You, too –

because through Your words in him
he taught those who first told me about You.

There are worse things

than being imprisoned with the Apostle Paul!
