Pray this Lazaroo with desperate faith:

“…never again will my people be shamed. And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.”
(Joel 2:27-28)

I long for the day when we will no longer be shamed, Jesus!

Pour out Your Spirit on all Your people!
Grant us holy dreams and visions!

Yes, we read Your Word and do our best to apply it to our lives.

But we’re so weary of wondering
if we got it right.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, ‘What then is this child going to be?’ For the Lord’s hand was with him. His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: ‘Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them.’”
(Luke 1:66-68)

What am I going to be, Jesus?

Just because I’m what I am now
doesn’t mean the last chapter has been written.

Whatever the answer
may I bring glory to You!

Pray this Lazaroo with anticipation:

“The vision of Obadiah.”
(Obadiah 1:1)

And so begins the shortest book of the Old Testament, Jesus.

From scant clues within its 21 verses
we surmise Obadiah may have been
the first of the writing prophets.

Obadiah is a popular Bible name, given to 12 different men.

However, we don’t know for sure that he was any of them.

But these words aren’t from him, are they?

They are a direct, powerful, blistering message of warning

through him
from You.

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed faithfulness:

“If a liar and deceiver comes and says, ‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’ that would be just the prophet for this people!”
(Micah 2:11)

We’ve got a problem, Jesus.

We tend to listen to people who tell us what we want to hear
rather than people who faithfully listen to You
and tell us what we need to hear.

I don’t want to be that person!

May I heed only what comes from You!

Pray this Lazaroo in growing awe:

“‘Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?’ Nathanael asked.”
(John 1:46)

People didn’t think much of Your hometown, did they, Jesus?

It was small – maybe 120-150 people.
Almost everyone in the village was related, from the tribe of Judah.

They were probably trying to hide their royal lineage from King Herod

since he was paranoid about his questionable right to the throne.

But Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would come from there

600 years before Nazareth even existed.

Be warned, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says’…”
(Ezekiel 3:11)

I will, Jesus.

All I have to do is quote to them the words in the Bible –

being certain the passage I quote
applies to them.

But when it comes to claiming a message is from You that is not in the Bible?

I’d better be 100 per cent certain
I’m not speaking out of my own imagination.

You will not allow such arrogance to go unpunished.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Do not prophesy about these things…”
(Micah 2:6)

Most people are eager to hear a prophecy, Jesus

if they believe it’s true
if the prophecy predicts punishment for their enemies
and/or a happy future for them.

Obviously, that’s not the kind of prophecy You entrusted to Your prophet Micah.

Of course, there are false prophets
who prophesy only what their audience wants to hear.

But among Your true followers

those who prophesy such lies
have a limited shelf life.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot purpose:

“Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men…”
(Jude 1:14)

That’s nothing short of amazing, Jesus.

I take that back.

For Enoch to precisely foretell what a group of people were going to be, say and do 3,000 years before they walked this earth

is an absolute miracle.

Of course, that should be no surprise.

Enoch was the one you took to heaven
without requiring him to die first.

Teach me to walk with You

as he did.
