Pray this Lazaroo in loving gratitude:

“But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought good news about your faith and love. He has told us that you always have pleasant memories of us and that you long to see us, just as we also long to see you.”
(1 Thessalonians 3:6)

These kinds of relationships are rare, Jesus.

If I have anything like this, help me cherish it
and never take it for granted.

If I don’t have anything like it

please bring this blessing into my life!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.”
(Philippians 2:20-21)

Timothy was someone truly special, Jesus.

Someone rare.

Will You please help me to follow in his footsteps?

Help me show genuine concern for the welfare of others!

Rather than my own interests
help me look out for Yours.

I don’t have to worry about doing without!

Your loving generosity has no limit.

Pray this Lazaroo with single minded dedication:

“Demetrius is well spoken of by everyone—and even by the truth itself.”
(3 John 1:12)

There aren’t many people that no one dislikes, Jesus

but some of them lead a secret life that would horrify their admirers.

It’s exceedingly rare to find someone who in Your eyes deserves the accolades of everyone.

I’m no Demetrius.
Not by a long shot!

Nor is it my goal to be liked by everyone.

But it is my goal for You –

Who looks deep into my heart –

to be pleased with me in every way.

Aim higher, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Demetrius is well spoken of by everyone…”
(3 John 1:12)

That’s rare, Jesus.

Some people are highly regarded by most
but to have everyone singing their praises?

Even those who live with them
see them at their worst?

Amazing. Jaw dropping.
Almost unprecedented.

Not even You were well spoken of by everyone.

Because of Your power and purity
many hated You, rejected You
turned against You.

I’d like to be a Demetrius

but I’d rather be hated along with You.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.”
(1 Samuel 3:1)

My guess, Jesus?

Most of us can identify.

In these days, there aren’t many visions.
Some, yes. But not many.

The question is: Why?

It’s certainly not because You have nothing to say.

Could it be because You’re waiting for us to obey Your Word in its written form

before there’s any reason to tell us something else?

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.”
(Nehemiah 4:6)

That’s the key to real progress, isn’t it, Jesus?

To work with all our hearts.

And not just one or two of us.
All of us.

It’s rare, though.

Why is it that only some of us serve You with that kind of passion?

What we need is all-out revival!
Will You bring that to pass in our lifetimes?

Revive us again!

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“The land by the sea will become pastures…”
(Zephaniah 2:6)

Sounds good, Jesus.

Pastures are beautiful, pleasant places.

But to stop with that thought is to miss the point.

Land by the sea is extremely expensive.
There’s only so much of it.

It’s in high demand
because everyone wants to build a house there.

Which means that the land You’re referring to will revert to pasture

after the homes there – populated by disobedient people –

have been utterly destroyed.

Pray this Lazaroo with a longing ache in your heart:

“All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders.”
(1 Chronicles 7:40)

Oh, do we ever need men and women like that today, Jesus!

People who will step up when they see a need
men and women who stand out – bristling with ability
brave leaders who take their calling to the next level.

But people like that are rare.

You’re the only one who can put those qualities in them.

Please do.

Pray this Lazaroo with personal introspection:

“When the news reached the king of Ninevah, he rose from his throne…”
(Jonah 3:6)

That’s rare, isn’t it, Jesus?

Kings don’t usually rise from their thrones
when someone shows up with news.

But this news threatened his city and his own life.

Of course, he could have remained seated
waving it off as preposterous.

But when he heard Ninevah had only 40 days
before You were going to punish their wickedness

down deep, he knew:

They had it coming.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“Count all the firstborn Israelite males who are a month old or more…”
(Numbers 3:40)

Why did You tell Moses to do that, Jesus?

It didn’t really matter to him, did it?

Oh, he might have been curious

but whether he understood or not
he was going to do it.

That’s a pretty rare commodity

but it’s one of the things You loved about him, wasn’t it?

With all my heart

I hope that’s one of the things You love about me.
