Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“Why do you now cry aloud—have you no king? Has your ruler perished, that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor? Writhe in agony, Daughter Zion…you must leave the city to camp in the open field. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued. There the Lord will redeem you out of the hand of your enemies.”
(Micah 4:9-10)

When my sins have cost me my home, Jesus

is all lost?

No.

Even in a strange and foreign land

You can rescue me!

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath; my eyes will never see happiness again. The eye that now sees me will see me no longer; you will look for me, but I will be no more.”
(Job 7:7-8)

This is absolutely how Job felt, Jesus

but what he felt was absolutely wrong.

He spoke out of the pain and bitterness of his immense suffering

supposing they would continue till the day he died.

They didn’t.

You stepped in and rescued him!

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“For if God…protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others…if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless…then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials…”
(2 Peter 2:4-5, 7,9)

You did protect Noah, Jesus.

You protected Lot, too.

The thing is…

I’m not as righteous as Noah or Lot.

All I have going for me is Your forgiveness for my countless sins.

But praise Your Holy Name!

That’s enough.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)…”
(2 Peter 2:7-8)

Am I tormented by the sin all around me, Jesus?

Or have I become numb to it, indifferent
shrugging it off as though it’s not that big of a deal?

Please. Help me always see sin

as You do.

Pray this Lazaroo in no-excuses assessment:

“…if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless…”
(2 Peter 2:6-7)

That raises an important question, Jesus:

Did You rescue Lot – at least in part –
because he hated the sin of his city?

And if so…

do I hate the depraved conduct of mine?

Pray this Lazaroo in sobered passion:

“This is what the Lord says: ‘As a shepherd rescues from the lion’s mouth only two leg bones or a piece of an ear, so will the Israelites living in Samaria be rescued, with only the head of a bed and a piece of fabric from a couch.’”
(Amos 3:12)

Talk about bleak, Jesus!

Wow.

After You sic their enemies on them…

not much will be left.

May I live in such a way

that You’re never forced to do the same to me.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“The rest of Kohath’s descendants…”
(1 Chronicles 6:61)

They’re not all the same, are they, Jesus?

I can rejoice over some of those who come after me
and weep over others –

especially when I remember that my descendants
are not limited to my biological children.

Every person into whom I’ve invested time, prayer, energy, finances

is a child of mine.

O God!

I’m so grateful for the ones who are doing well.
Please transform and rescue those who aren’t!

Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“They all march in line…”
(Joel 2:7)

It’s bad enough when my enemies show up one at a time, Jesus.

But when a horde of them lines up against me?

Not good.

Of course, this was a plague of locusts sent by You

against Your chronically rebellious people.

So as long as I stay obedient to You

I won’t have to face that fearsome sight.

Or if I do, I can remain confident

knowing You will surely rescue me.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…their minds and consciences are corrupted.”
(Titus 1:15)

Having a corrupted mind would be bad enough, Jesus…

but a corrupted conscience?
unable to feel any regret for a harmful decision?

Such a person is severely handicapped beyond recovery

unless You intervene.

But that’s what it takes for any sinner to give up control of their own life and submit totally to You!

Your supernatural intervention.

Otherwise, we’d all choose our own way.

O God!
Thank You for rescuing me.
