Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“‘It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses. What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?’ declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.”
(Isaiah 3:14-15)

May you never say that of me, Jesus!

I know You love and care for the poor.

That means I had better love and care for them, too –

offering them the wholehearted respect
due everyone created in Your Image.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”
(Mark 2:21-22)

You were doing a New Thing, Jesus.

Their old ways couldn’t handle it.

I beg You!

Do a New Thing in me!

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn passion:

“Its slave girls moan like doves…”
(Nahum 2:7)

Oh, Jesus.

The beautiful sound of a dove, ruined!
Turned into heartbroken tragedy.

That’s what sin does to every beautiful thing You’ve created.

I’ve seen it with my own eyes
heard it with my own ears.

I’ve also felt it
when my own sins have cost me dearly.

Never again, LORD! Never again!

May I be reminded to stay ultra close to You
every time I hear the sound of a dove.

Face facts! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Get up, go away! For this is not your resting place, because it is defiled, it is ruined, beyond all remedy.”
(Micah 2:10)

Those last words startle me, Jesus:

“…beyond all remedy.”

There are some things I can’t fix, aren’t there?

When that’s the state of affairs
please help me recognize it!

You can fix everything.

Nothing is too hard for You.

But in Your wisdom You know:

The way some things are best fixed

is to move on.

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“…it is ruined…”
(Micah 2:10)

I’ve said that about some things, Jesus.

I’ve also said it about some relationships.

But You have a way of taking what I think is totally, irreparably ruined

and either completely restoring it
or replacing it with something far better!

I absolutely love that about You!

No matter what happens

with You, there’s always a New Day.
There’s always hope!

Nothing is beyond Your repair!

Nothing is beyond Your improvement!

Not even me.

Pray this Lazaroo in wisdom, self-control and total trust:

“…forfeiting your life.”
(Habakkuk 2:10)

That seems incomprehensible, Jesus!

Why would anyone forfeit his life?
Why would she throw away something so precious?

But people do it all the time. Why?

Because Your gracious gift of life can become soiled, feel ruined

by sin…pain…sickness…fear…hatred…loss.

And in the darkness that our emotions and Satan himself brings

people can lose hope
abandon perspective
think irrationally

act hastily…foolishly.

But You’re the Giver of life!

My life is not my own to take.

Unashamedly plead with God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I know the slander…”
(Revelation 2:9)

Thank You for understanding, Jesus!

because this isn’t merely people saying something negative about me.

This is slander – lying about me in a way that damages my reputation.

If my reputation is destroyed, my effectiveness is ruined.
People won’t believe me, won’t trust me.

Of course, that’s what happened when they crucified You, wasn’t it?

…until You rose from the dead!

Every time somebody slanders me, Jesus…

step in and resurrect my reputation!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“I struck all the work of your hands…”
(Haggai 2:17)

How could You, Jesus?

All that work done by Your people
ruined not by their enemies

but by their God.

Why?

Out of love.

You’ll do whatever’s necessary to get my attention and turn me around

before it’s too late.

The destruction of all my work is a small price to pay

for the salvation of my life.

It’s tough love, LORD!

But sometimes…
it’s the love I need.

Cling to the promise of God, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The LORD will restore the splendor of Jacob…though destroyers…have ruined their vines.”
(Nahum 2:3)

It takes years for a grapevine to mature to the point where it produces truly great grapes, Jesus.

The grape grower invests hours in pruning and training the vine
so it pours all its lifeforce into creating great-tasting grapes
rather than growing big and bushy with stems and leaves.

O God!

Is that what You’re doing with me?

Please.
Whatever it takes.
Restore my splendor.
