Pray this Lazaroo in sold-out surrender:

“If a member of the community…does what is forbidden…”
(Leviticus 4:27)

Sadly, Jesus…

who hasn’t?

I have.

Everyone I know has.

You say the same:

There’s no one righteous, not even one.

But things can’t stay that way, can they?

Sin has to be atoned for.

Either the sinner pays
or someone with sufficient means

has to pay it for them.

Which is exactly what You did on the cross
for everyone who puts their trust in You.

Cling to God’s promises, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Before them…the sky trembles.”
(Joel 2:10)

Those are some fearsome creatures You created, Jesus!

Punishment You inflicted on Your own people –
a terrifying swarm of supernatural locusts.

No wonder the very sky trembled!

But if I tremble before You –

terrified to sin against Your greatness, majesty, love and wisdom –

I’ll never have to tremble because of Your punishment.

Sadly, I’ve failed at that in the past

and experienced Your loving discipline…

which steered me all the way back

to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“He summons his picked troops, yet they stumble on their way.”
(Nahum 2:5)

What an honor to be chosen by You, Jesus –

to be given a holy task, a meaningful goal
a vital assignment!

But just because You’ve sent me

doesn’t mean I’ll complete my mission.

I have to stay deep, daily, moment-by-moment, 1on1 with You

or I’ll stumble along the way.

Sadly, that’s already happened – many times.

But hallelujah!

You keep picking me up
and sending me again.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…take on one of the young men…”
(2 Samuel 2:21)

Asahel wanted to take down the enemy leader, Jesus –

a noble goal, to be sure –

but one he wasn’t equipped to accomplish.

Abner was older and slower…but more experienced.

Sadly, when Asahel refused to pick on someone his own age

it cost him his life.

Am I chasing anything I shouldn’t be, Father?

If so, show me!

I don’t want to waste Your precious gift of time

nor lose my life.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“I heard you in the garden…”
(Genesis 3:10)

Adam had that 1on1 relationship with You, Jesus

and blew it.

He took it for granted, let Satan distract him, successfully tempt him

and lost it.

Now, for the first time in his life, he was hiding from You

didn’t want to talk.

So You pursued him!

Thank You for the countless times You’ve pursued me, LORD!
Sadly, I’ve experienced how scary, lonely and dangerous it is out there

without You.

Take heed, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“They are…arrogant…”
(Romans 1:29-30)

Arrogance is pretty hard to stomach, Jesus.

When I see it, I cringe.

Sadly, it almost always shows up in those You’ve blessed!

Instead of realizing their gifts, skills and triumphs are from You
they believe it’s all because of them.

They think it’s due to their hard work, their brilliance
their superiority over others

which sets them up for Your inevitable punishment

and their disgrace.

May I never, ever – ever!

follow in their footsteps.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“He chased Abner…”
(2 Samuel 2:19)

There were a lot of people the fleet-footed Asahel could have safely chased, Jesus

but the commander Abner wasn’t one of them.

No doubt Asahel picked him because he was the biggest prize

but sadly, he didn’t know what to do with him when he caught him

and it cost him his life.

What am I chasing that I shouldn’t be, LORD?

Don’t let me catch it.

I’d rather be slow

than dead.
