Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the LORD Loves…”
(Malachi 2:11)

Those last three words are what get to me, Jesus.

Of course, I should never desecrate Your sanctuary.

But when You remind me of how much You love Your sanctuary

that takes any sin against her
to a whole ‘nuther level.

My first thought goes to the physical church building where I worship with Your people.

Then I realize that my body is a temple for Your Holy Spirit.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death.”
(Numbers 3:38)

I don’t pretend to know every reason behind that command, Jesus.

But I can guess one of them:

You wanted Your people to regard You
with knee-trembling awe.

It’s hard for us to leave our sinful ways.

We need all the incentive we can get!

That rule is no longer in effect.

The sanctuary is long gone.

But I will forever approach You

in reverent awe.

Pray this Lazaroo with wholehearted adoration:

“They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary…”
(Numbers 3:38)

What a high and holy responsibility, Jesus!

Surely they recognized the honor You had bestowed on them.
Surely they never resented this work, no matter how hard.

During this age, Your sanctuary in that form no longer exists.

But that doesn’t mean we’re left with no sanctuary.

That one was but a copy of Your true sanctuary in heaven.

What an honor one day to serve You there –

forever!

You situated Moses and Aaron in the perfect place, Jesus –

where they would have constant, direct access to the sanctuary.

And one day – perhaps soon! – as lightning flashes from the east to the west

in fulfillment of Bible prophecy
You will enter the Eastern Gate of Jerusalem

which faces the Mount of Olives –
the most direct route to Your ancient temple mount.
