Pray this Lazaroo with determination:

“I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding…”
(Philemon 1:6)

Do I ever need my understanding deepened, Jesus!

Certainly, that requires time each day in Your Word
Seasons of prayer, as I pour out my heart to You
and seek Your Face.

But it also requires action.

As I study and pray
You want me to go and grow

through ministry to Your people
and navigating among those
who are not Your people.

Pray this Lazaroo in no-matter-what trust:

“…the livestock and the plunder from the towns we had captured we carried off for ourselves. From Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the gorge, even as far as Gilead, not one town was too strong for us. The Lord our God gave us all of them.”
(Deuteronomy 2:35-36)

Thank You for giving us seasons like Jesus!

Please help us remember them

when You lead us through the dark valleys of loss.

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“Proclaim…to the fortresses of Egypt…”
(Amos 3:9)

For many years, Jesus

Egypt was a friend to Your people

…until they became an enemy.

That’s how it goes, isn’t it?

My life is made up of seasons.

During one season it goes this way.

During the next season, it may go very differently.

While I’m in a particular season

I think I can change it – or keep it.

But I can’t.

You alone are the God of all my seasons.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb…”
(1 Chronicles 6:56)

Some of us get the big cities, Jesus

others the fields and smaller towns.

You place each of us where – if we trust You with our whole hearts –

we can thrive.

Interestingly, one may be best for a season

and the other best in the next season of life.

I may have to learn these truths the hard way

but it’s worth the cost.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“…you are faithful…”
(3 John 1:5)

If only You could say that about me, Jesus!

Well…at least in some areas…You can.

But not in all.

There are seasons, days, moments
when I drop the ball.

That’s a euphemism I prefer

to confessing that I’ve inexcusably sinned.

I know no one is perfect.

I’m aware we all stumble in many ways.

But that doesn’t change the fact that in Your strength

I’ve got to give my all

because You deserve better.

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn refelction:

“The length of time David was king in Hebron over Judah was seven years and six months.”
(2 Samuel 2:11)

That kind of information is a little hard to come by in advance, Jesus.

Only in retrospect am I able to put boundaries
around the seasons of my life.

You, on the other hand, knew beforehand the exact time David was going to reign in Hebron

just as You know when this season I’m now in
will end.

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God who can:

“The season of singing has come…”
(Song of Songs 2:12)

I’ve tasted that season, Jesus!

I’m ready to experience it again.

Of course, referring to it as a “season” reminds me that it never lasts.

It has its time
then gives way to a season in which there is less singing

and sometimes more weeping.

But that too gives way to other seasons –

like those that offer bright, happy days of rejoicing
mixed with the unwelcome gift of suffering.

Put your hope in God, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“See! The winter is past…”
(Song of Songs 2:11)

On this day of December, that statement couldn’t be less true, Jesus…

…unless You’re not talking about the weather.

Certainly, that’s what Solomon was referring to when he spoke to his bride.

But I, too am Your bride

and there are seasons of life I would like to discuss:

There’s beauty in winter
but hardship, as well.

If You’re willing, I’m willing
for my winter to be past.
