Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor…Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked.”
(Nehemiah 4:16-18)

Those are extreme measures Jesus

needed only when the threat level is high.

Because I’m sold out to You

the threat level from the enemy of my soul is always high.

Better strap on my sword of the Spirit
and suit up in the full armor of God!

Pray this Lazaroo with a heart sensitive to the needs of others:

“Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon; your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil are like the halves of a pomegranate. Your neck is like the tower of David, built with courses of stone; on it hang a thousand shields, all of them shields of warriors.”
(Song of Songs 4:3-4)

I’m not sure those compliments would work today, Jesus

especially not the pomegranate and tower of David.

But it’s good to pay compliments, isn’t it?

Even when they miss
those who receive them
surely appreciate the attempt.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The shields of his soldiers are red…”
(Nahum 2:3)

That might be paint on their shields, Jesus…

but it’s probably blood.

Since their shields are covered in blood

and since they’re still standing
their enemies must have fallen.

These soldiers must be awfully good.

Not a pretty thought, Father!

But there’s no way around it:
that’s the reality of battle.

Some of those walking around have my blood on their shields, Father.

Why am I still here?
Only You.
