Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God who can:

“Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.”
(1 Peter 2:11)

I can sense it, Jesus:

Whatever wrong I do with my body
harms my soul, my spirit, my 1on1 relationship with You.

So why do I cave in to these earthly temptations?

It’s because I fail to keep foremost in my mind
that this world is not my home.

Help me live like a citizen
of where I’m going to spend eternity!

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“…the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority.”
(2 Peter 2:9-10)

There are times and circumstances, Jesus

when none of us likes being told what to do.

And of course, there are evil people in authority

whose sinful commands must be disobeyed.

But may I always be wholeheartedly responsive

to the commands of Your Word!

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“…with nothing to fear…The lion killed enough for his cubs and strangled the prey for his mate, filling his lairs with the kill and his dens with the prey.”
(Nahum 2:11-12)

This is imagery, Jesus.

You’re not really talking about lions.

You’re rebuking a sinful nation
who once acted like the king of beasts

but who now, because of their disobedience
have lost their fangs.

Do I live in such a country, Father?

Among a people once righteous and strong
who have forsaken You?

Pray this Lazaroo with every ounce of your being:

“Then I said, ‘Put a clean turban on his head.’ So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.”
(Zechariah 3:5)

That’s what I need, Jesus.

Please. I beg You:
Put a clean turban on my head.

Erase from me every sinful thought.

Purify every brain wave of my mind .

Work the miracle necessary

to help me forgive from my heart
those who have sinned against me.

Take sincere warning, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
(Hebrews 3:12-13)

The role of encouragement is huge, isn’t it, Jesus?

It’s so easy to become bogged down
by Satan’s insidious temptations and incessant lies.

Please help me encourage and be encouraged!

every single day.

Pray this Lazaroo with catalytic dedication:

“In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”
(Jude 1:18)

In that case, Jesus…

these must be the last times.

I see both happening:

People making fun of the truths of Your Word

Men and women living blatantly disobedient lives
with no thought of You.

In this environment, taking my stand for You and Your Word is extremely unwelcome.

But that’s okay.

I’m standing.
I’m not gonna budge.
I know how this ends.

Pray this Lazaroo in up-close-and-personal faith:

“…keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it.”
(Joshua 3:4)

You gave them a dramatic illustration of Your absolute holiness, Jesus –

unapproachable by sinful human beings.

If they carelessly drew any closer

or dared to reach out and touch the ark itself

they would die.

Oh, how different now!

HALLELUJAH!

At your death the temple curtain that blocked us from entering Your Presence

was torn in two, from top to bottom!

Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“They will come trembling to the LORD…”
(Hosea 3:5)

That’s not a bad way to come to You, Jesus.

It sure beats coming to You full of pride.
It’s better than coming to You burning with anger.
It’s preferable to coming to You eaten up with doubt.

When I come to You with trembling

it’s because I realize how small I am
and how awesome You Are

how flawed and sinful I am
and how perfect, righteous and holy You Are.
