Pray this Lazaroo in sobered understanding:

“…if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
(2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

That explains so much, Jesus –

why some people instantly respond to the good news about You
and others in the same room at the same time reject Your love.

With everything in me:

Thank You for lifting the veil from my mind!

Pray this Lazaroo in the fear of God:

“…the king gave the order to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down and he died. The kingdom was now established in Solomon’s hands.”
(1 Kings 2:46)

As politically incorrect as it is to say it, Jesus

if there is to be peace

sometimes someone has to

leave
be kicked out
or die.

Whenever possible, You want us to work things out with each other.

But some people are nothing but hell on earth

until the day they draw their last, divisive breath.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Beyond them, Benjamin and Hasshub made repairs in front of their house; and next to them, Azariah son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, made repairs beside his house. Next to him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section, from Azariah’s house to the angle and the corner…”
(Nehemiah 3:23-24)

Some people only take care of themselves, Jesus

but a precious few also take care of others.

In Your strength and by Your grace
count me in their number!

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“Scarcely had I passed them when I found the one my heart loves. I held him and would not let him go till I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the room of the one who conceived me.”
(Song of Songs 3:4)

Some people would call her behavior extreme, Jesus.

And maybe it was.

But that’s what love does!

It calls us to sacrifice ourselves

for the sake of another –

which is exactly what You did for me

on the cross.

Pray this Lazaroo with compassion:

“The arrows of the Almighty are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God’s terrors are marshaled against me. Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant what I hope for, that God would be willing to crush me, to let loose his hand and cut off my life!”
(Job 6:4, 8-9)

Some people claim You don’t do such things, Jesus.

But Job knew better.
He lived it.

Help me trust You!

even when to me

it makes no sense.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“My soul is in anguish. How long, O LORD, how long?”
(Psalms 6:3)

How many times have I been there, Jesus?

You alone know.
It’s too many for me to count.

But that’s a good thing, isn’t it?

It reminds me that in Your perfect way and time
You rose up and showed Yourself strong!

I don’t have to tell You –

my soul remains in anguish about some things
and especially some people.

But I know:
You’ll come through.

Pray this Lazaroo in desperate need:

“…rid yourselves of…all deceit…”
(1 Peter 2:1)

I hate being deceived, Jesus!

I long to take people at their word.

It’s so much work to study their body language
and facial giveaways.

I fervently wish I lived in a “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” world.

But I don’t.

So that means I have to be a good evaluator, doesn’t it?

Except…some people are really good deceivers.

Looks like I need to tap into one of Your priceless treasures –

the supernatural gift of discernment.

Ask God to help you follow their example as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…you will do even more…”
(Philemon 1:21)

Some people are just like that, Jesus.

They’re doers, workers, achievers –

but not merely for a season.

They keep going and going and going

doing even more.

While I focus on what they’ve accomplished

they’ve moved on to the next thing

and the next and the next.

They know their work is never done until You say so.

But they don’t resent it!

Because they know they’re laying up

untold heavenly treasure.
