Determine to take action, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…he even refuses to welcome other believers. He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.”
(3 John 1:10)

What kind of person behaves in this way, Jesus?

Certainly not someone led by Your Holy Spirit.

I suspect they’re being led by none other than Satan himself.

But why would they allow that?

Maybe they’re a Christian in name only
planted by Satan to disrupt the love in Your Church.

Thankfully, You’ve given us the proper way

to deal with such people.

It’s not about merely working together, is it, Jesus?

It’s working together for the truth.

Your Word is truth.

People who don’t honor Your Word

by believing it
by obeying it

have a different agenda
a different purpose for the work they do.

It’s not my responsibility to judge them

nor is it wisdom for me to show them the same hospitality

You reserve for those who follow You.

So, Jesus…

am I to conclude that treating people inhospitably
may somewhat hinder our ability to work together?

Ha! Makes sense.

It’s not just about the work, is it?

Maybe it’s not even mostly about the work.

It’s about the relationships.

My 1on1 relationship with You.
My relationship with each person.
My relationship with the group.

Hospitality.

That’s a strong word, Jesus!

It’s more than feeling warm toward someone.

It’s more than saying nice words.

It’s action.

It calls for sharing what I have
investing time in them.

To whom would You like me to show hospitality?

People who are faithful to the truth.
Those who continue to walk in the truth.

Believers who show love to other Christians
who spread the good news of Your salvation.

(Judges 2:18)

Yes, these judges settled disputes, Jesus…

but they were far more than that.

They were leaders, examples, warriors –

courageous people willing to go first
take initiative, exercise responsibility.

God give us men and women like that in our age!

We have a few…
but at least to me –

it looks like we need many more.

You’re the only one who can raise up such people.

Please!

“Go now to your countrymen in exile and speak to them.”

When somebody goes to such people with a message from You

they may not be thrilled to hear it –

especially if they think I’m coming across as
“holier than thou.”

I know I’m not.

But when I speak with Your authority
they may mistakenly think I’m speaking with mine.

Still, it doesn’t matter.

If you send me to a group of suspicious, grouchy people

I’ll go.

Pretty graphic, Jesus.

Over the top, though?
An exaggeration?

Sadly, no.
I’ve run into some like that.

As with a grave prepared for mourners

they can look peaceful, even beautiful.

But the closer I get

the more danger I’m in.

They’re a hole in the ground.

If I fall into it, I can break my neck.
People would throw dirt on top of me.

O God!
